New "Old Runner"

Went to the dry city of Austin Tx. to pick this rust free 4runner. Plans are for it to be the wifes and I Daily Driver. The engine is in a hundred pieces, paint is faded and the interior is in need a a good cleaning. But I love Toyota all kinds because of their reliability. So here are a few pictures of the new "Old Runner"

Lotsa potential there, thats an SR5 right? I didn't know they made power windows with a vent window... Learn something new every day.

It came with aftermarket aluminum rims and almost brand new tires.

But since I like the SR5 style these were permanently donated from Cracker for Old Runner to have. Not to worry I have more than one set of these rims :D

The interior is not the best but should clean up well.

All the windows work and for now the rear window rolls up and down when you press the switch, I'll keep an eye on that since their known for rolling down but not up. Oh this one is also an automatic :D very much :princess: friendly.

Josh, your right the windows are manual, the rear is electric. The emblems on the tailgate say SR5 but I don't this it truly is. It has a full instrument dash, tack, oil etc. Pop up moon roof/ sun roof but manual mirrors.

So are you going to paint it PINK for :princess:

Nice solid looking runner Albert I look forward to seeing the progress as you put your magic touch on it. I always rather the mechanical issues myself as its easier in my opinion to get it where you wanna it and you then know what you have. Hidden bondo, and bent frames from previous accidents are always my concern when getting an older rig. It looks like a great rig start to start with

The term "Dwarf" is no longer acceptable, they prefer to be called "mini-trucks" now.

If you keep buying trucks and making threads for each we're gonna have to combine them! :D
lol

Very nice bud. very.

She just needs a big kangaroo killer on the front!

(hint: .. come get this big POS out of my garage!)

lol

me

 Albert nice runner ! like it a WHOLE lot better with the Yota wheels!

the dark gray on tuc color code is 143
your black should be 202
if ya want to stay in correct color for the year dark gray is 138

prob just a slight var from mine.

on Tuc all metal is base /clear coat & the Fglass is single stage with a hardner.
reason being on the metal B/C `s are a lot easer to patch & on the fglass its all color don`t have the issue of going through the clear to the dull base on the texture..
again nice lookin runner:cheers:

Finished up on a back bumper for the truck. I needed something so I could pull small trailer, have a recover point that would hold the truck and wanted something attached to the frame and not the flatbed. Some 2" square tubing 1/4" thick, 1/4" angle iron 13" long, 1" square tubing and a receiver hitch . Ended up with this. It will slide inside the frame .

It should do well for a recovery point and with stand a side pull when I get stranded. The bumper still should make contact before the bed does if I back into something.

You know what strikes me in this picture. I mean the bed and bumper are nice and all. but from the looks of it you can actually fit a full size spare under your truck! Me and John were joking about his spare under his runner the other day, I saw yours and was about to crack a joke and stopped to think for a second.

On the down side wouldn't that be a serious rock anchor compared to the rest of the back end?

Wow... I'm starting to like this rig better than your silver truck

I always pull out my spare and strap it in the back when wheelin'.

How are those rear spring shackles attached? I can't tell if their stiff welded and if they have 2 contact points with the frame...it looks like just 1.

Good job:clap:Did you make two one for John ? Cracker needs back up lights . How that clutch Albert :wrench:

I think he's only planning to go forward .... up and over

me

Josh-no doubt the spare tire is a serious anchor point.(correct size to match the other tires but still an anchor point) keep in mind this truck is all STOCK, springs, shackles, shocks, from 1985 etc. It has no suspension lift, that how I build this one. It's my around the house truck kind of.

raevenzero -The rear shackle hangers are in the stock location, only one. I have run double shackles on my other vehicles and did not personal care for them. When I wheel this one like you do I'll strap it to the flat bed.

Mike - the clutch is slipping , but I need to work on the silver truck before I jump on this one. I looked at the web site you sent me just holding off on spending more $$ right now.

Scott- Naa the silver one is still more fun with the auto ;). Maybe with some seat extensions the white one would be fun for you to drive

Alright when you are ready do the silver one let me no .
