Having issues installing my new tie rod ends. The rubber boot contacts the wheel which is obviously no good. My mind is blank to what is causing this. What am I missing?

deepseacruiser, I see a lot of thread exposed on that TRE. Are you sure it is cranked in enough?

The length is correct according to the fsm. Unfortunately that shouldn't affect the boot to wheel distance
looks like a rim offset problem I've had that with 15x10 -44 rims the TRE doesn't come in contact with the rim but it knocks all the balancing weights off the inside, what rims have you got on there.
15x10 -44 clearance, genuine Toyota TRE and Tierod

The stock tie rods did not rub with these rims. I was gonna a be getting new ones shortly but don't want to fry my new TREs right off the bat

Ordered a set of 1/4" wheel spacers till I can upgrade the rims

Speaking of which my FSM says 49.88" for the tie rod and 39.41" for the relay rod. This does seem to leave alot of threads exposed not sure if this is normal. this is a BJ74 88 RHD
I just did the TREs yesterday on the HJ75 RHD, and I believe the FSM numbers only work for LHD. Both the tie and relay rod were more than 1" shorter than the spec when I pulled them off, but the alignment was fine. So I think the numbers are different for RHD 70s. Starting a new thread...
