Is this too much rust?

Hi Mudders. I’m considering purchasing a 2016 example with 50k miles. This is the undercarriage…is this bad ?

It’s a NE truck. I already have a white HE 2021 that looks much better underneath. I’d be buying this for my wife. Alternatively, I’m considering buying a LX700h overtrail. I just love the 200. What do you think?

Should I do it ? Or get the Lx? The 200 will be about 50k less so that helps too.

I don't know what salt flat/beach those pics were taken on, but my GOD....I'd pass. But I'm from the souf...where we don't have the rust issues you are likely comfortable dealing with being from the NE. I may not have consensus, but again - I'd pass or go with the OT for a longer lifespan even with the $50k difference. I'm a 200 fanboi too fwiw.

kdss iron components look very corroded. shutter valves behind the frame are likely as bad if not worse, frozen etc

That's a hard pass. Frame rust is not too bad, but this photo alone would be enough to deter me. KDSS system will be compromised eventually, if not already so. Lol, it does kinda look like it's parked on the Bonneville Salt Flats. :hillbilly:

The choice between this truck and a new LX700h is a false dichotomy. There are plenty of good 200's out there. You're in CA, for pete's sake, don't settle for this!

I walked away from a 16 LX570 dark blue with red interior and super low milage that had similar rust profile as that...

Ended up buying a 19 LX570 with 30k more miles for more money but clean frame.

If one has the funds for 21HE or LX700h OT, this example should be a hard pass.
