On my 82 BJ42 on the front underside of the hood is a riveted chrome piece in each corner. Is this stock or a PO attempt to beef up hood?

pretty sure that's not stock.
I think all the rubber bumpers for the hood are mounted on the bib and aprons too, so it's not the remnants of one of those either.
I have seen this on a coule 40s so I think it may be factory...

well dang, I feel so left out...my 81 doesn't have them, must've started in 82...
now all you guys with the little rivetted tabs can start a little rivetted tabs elitist club...quaffing shandies and mocking those without....
in all seriocity tho, those things are right above the rubber pads the hoods rest on ? if so they sorta make sense, as the paint is always rubbed off in those spots.
the kindof thing that doesn't bother most of us, but I bet mr.toyota heard complaints about the paint having rubbed off the hood on a few brand new 40's back in the early 80's.
Come over for a beer if you need some concelling. I have rivets, stainless and a way to bend it... You always have be in the "in crowd" Ryan, that way you won't feel so left out. Someone supply some measurements and specs, rivet size too. I might even add a set to my junk, gotta keep that paint pretty!
