Is this GX a good buy?

It's a nice looking rig for sure, but for that money? No way. $12.5k would be more reasonable in my opinion. At the end of the day that's still someone else's project that'll come with someone else's project problems.

Plus anyone who has done that many mods and still deals with the TPMS light on....

Did you price out the cost Of the mods? Easily 10k worth of mods not counting the labor. The vehicle in stock form w/209k would be $8-9k and its an 04 (4spd) vs 95-97 5spd.
I would offer $15k and not more.

That rig is definitely being sold at a loss - I agree that it easily has $10K in mods in it - just the bumpers alone are probably $4-5K. Overall the mods look tasteful, and they took the time to do things like re-doing the seats, which is nice. It also seems to have good quality parts - like the Dobinsons suspension and Metal Tech armor - as opposed to cheap stuff. It appears to be someone's rigs they built for themselves, rather than to flip.

The biggest red flag I see is the combination of a aftermarket single-DIN radio and a factory NAV system, including how that radio is mounted (not very well). I'm not sure how that would work with the OEM nav system and speakers, so I'd want to know how much of the audio is stock vs. a replacement. If it's cobbled together, that might need some work and $$$ to correct (as most DIYers struggle with wiring).

Good buy? Depends - getting it from WA to MO will add $1-2K in plane tickets/fuel/hotel rooms, so at that point it's nearly $20K. And your BIL risks flying out there and realizing the rig has issues, meaning he's out the plane ticket. But he'd easily spend over $20K more plus a lot of time to build a comparable rig from scratch.

To add on, that isn't a Sport. The Sport package was offered in 05 and came with KDSS. Afterwards, KDSS was an option for Sport and non Sport. The non Sport owners will add the Sport cosmetics like the headlights and interior trim.

The rig is definitely being sold at a loss once you factor in all those quality aftermarket parts plus the rig. I wish I could say the rig looks familiar but there are so many modded GX's that follow that recipe, its tough to say.

questionable suspension choice mixing the dobinsons which is a progressive shock with bilstein which is a digressive. thats gotta ride weird.

My brother in law lived in WA so this is a local purchase for him.

Did not know the sport models were from 05 forward. Appreciate that info.

Pretty confident all GX470s came with the A750F transmission (5spd). The only powerplant and drivetrain changes I'm aware of is 03-04 models are non VVTI engines.

I think ur correct...was thinking LC100

Not a good buy. Because of the Radio and less HP than the later 470s.

That looks like a great buy…lots of expensive repairs done the right way with oem parts including exhaust manifolds/cats, master brake actuator, timing belt, calipers, and more. Plus the mods.

The issues that people mention with the Bilstein rear shocks can be fixed easily by replacing with Dobinson shocks.

Stereo seems interesting…like they kept the navigation screen for the ac control and navigation, but hooked a new path for the radio. I haven’t seen that done before.

It’s a great buy from what I see in description and photos. The repairs/maintenance plus upgrades/mods are already over $15k in my book.

Tell me how I know! lol

Here’s what the listing says…
OEM Sport headlights, OEM front and rear calipers, OEM exhaust manifolds and O2 sensors, OEM brake master actuator, OEM transfer case actuator, OEM muffler, body mount bushings, power steering pump and reservoir, OEM alternator, OEM driver seat belt.

03-04 without VVTI are only down on top end hp but they produce the same torque which is way more important for a GX. They are non interference engines where the VVTI ones are and they dont have the SAIS to worry about. I would take an 03-04 GX any day for the simplicity. No one in Toyota world brags about hp. 😂

When he says OEM I hope he means they have been replaced with OEM and not factory OEM.

Just looking at the extra weight on the rig. Something to consider. It is a 🧼 truck.

The seller says he has receipts for everything, so just ask to see the receipts for the oem stuff.

I personally say oem when I replace parts with Toyota or Lexus parts that I’ve purchased new like the exhaust manifolds with integrated cats, brake master cylinder assembly, calipers,

If the seller is lying about meaning Toyota or Lexus oem, the I would walk but it seems legit to me.

Those parts are expensive too!

Anyhow, I would verify what seller is saying but I’m telling you this rig is worth every penny if the description matches reality.

I’ve spent over $25k in repairs and upgrades over 8 years, so I’m fully aware of the cost of new Toyota/Lexus oem parts.

Rig is worth a look to confirm condition.

It’s not hard to remove and resell the bumpers and get different ones if you don’t like those
