I'm thinking of getting an iPad. Do the iPad twos play flash? How about a 16 gig iPad... Can I store three or four movies on it? I believe I can get a usb card with more storage space. I am just having trouble justifying jumping from 16 gig @ 499 to double the space for a hundred more. Can I use a USB drive for movie storage?

Nope. No Flash. But Adobe is discontinuing Flash anyway. So a bit of a moot point.

Here is what I have on my 16Gb iPad2:

I'm using 7.1Gb of 16Gb.

I have:
  • 170 Songs
  • 21 Videos
  • 30 Photos
  • 43 Apps

The memory usage is:
  • 3.8 Gb - Music
  • 1.5 Gb - GPS App
  • four apps that are between 100Mb and 250Mb
  • two apps that are about 75Mb each
  • the rest of my apps are under 45Mb each

I'd say that you have more than enough room for a few movies, although the videos I have are TV shows and video podcasts. I'd have to add things up to see how many actual hours of video is on there.

There isn't a USB or flash card port on the iPad, but they do have a dock connector to USB converter and one that will take camera flash cards.

To me, having the mobility of the iPad is sort of diminished if you're going to lug around an external hard drive and a bunch of cables and connectors and such.

thanks for the response. It sounds like 16 gigs is enough for me. I plan on using my phone hot spot to get online when not near a router.
