FZJFillmore - if you can afford a true sine wave, then get one. Otherwise go with the modified sine wave but either way get the biggest that will fit the budget and the space limitations you have. I have 2 in the truck right now; 1 and 1,100 watt true sine wave that is perfect for anything important and a 3,000 cheap modified sine wave one for raw watts.

My view is everyone should have one. The money you spend on them will quickly be made up for not having to buy those expensive car adapters. They come in handy so much.

Junk,

Did you fit the inverter behind the finishing panel behind in the cargo compartment of the 80? Does that affect the cooling of the inverter?

i'm reviving this old post instead of creating a new one because i have a simple question about wave shapes. first of all, i wish i had found this post before i went thru the trouble of explaining it all to my roommate, (with the pictures of the scope, it's just super). second of all, what do you think the term "filtered modified sine wave" means? i found it on a 225 watt Vector i bought at autozone. there is a scope in the science dept at work but i'm not sure if it even works or if i know how to work it.

so, what does a filtered modified sine wave look like?
if i find out with the scope at work, i will certainly post pictures of it.

i'm googling this at time of writing but all i get are retail sites regurgitating the same info.

edited to add: i wouldn't be surprised if "filtered" simply means it's the same wave shape but they added a filter to cut the harmonics/noise
