I'm a, mostly, retired industrial and materials handling technician that likes old Toyota's. I recently restored a 1987 Toyota Pickup (4X4, 22RET) that I've had for 17 years and drive daily.
I just acquired a 1984 FJ60 that must reside in the garage because it's currently a heap. I did drive it home 2 hours with several stops to let it cool and a new battery for the last half hour after the charging system failed.
I'll be reading the forums to gain a baseline of knowledge. I can't afford a shotgun approach to buying parts for this thing so I'm currently just inspecting and taking notes.
Right now, I'm wondering what the smog pump bracket and hardware look like because I need to put an idler on there to run the fan. The alternator and and P/S pump were jerry-rigged after some previous owner ripped out the emmisions components and A/C.
I would love to meet with someone in the Bellingham or Mount Vernon areas to commiserate. Maybe I could take a peek at your FJ60 too.
