Unfortunately that's the worst part of this turd. Haven't yet taken on that task. No one locally seems to what to take it on and the repair itself seems simple enough that I've started to price welding machines myself.

Im in the exact same boat. I cut a replacement sill out of a 60 that was being scrapped and bought a welder. Just need to get some practice in and screw up the courage to do it.

Good looking truck, congrats on the purchase and work you've done so far!

Thanks, Best of luck. I'm eager to see how yours turns out. I have to finish up the rear axles in the next few weeks but after that I need to address the rear rust issue before I can do carpet and interior. Thought I had some seat covers from @Ian Crawford but I waffled on the purchase and he ended up convincing the wife he needed to keep them. Still hoping he changes his mind...

Had some time today and knocked out a few projects while the wife was playing in the yard. Managed to discover that I have a rear locker that the PO must have installed. Also managed to change out all the fluids and then install a new wiring harness and Cibie headlights that I’ve been holding onto for a while. Had to play with the idle a bit as it wants to stall at idle after it gets warm. Turned up the idle speed a bit higher and it seems to have corrected itself. Wish I had a better reason for this. Anyways, pics to follow.

Got a chance to tryout the new lights and harness tonight. I still need to work on the light trajectory but must say that the difference between stock harness and the old lamps is pretty impressive. All credit to @slcfj62 for the harness and Daniel Stern for the cibie e-code lamps.

Now I'm in a perculiar situation. Wife and I found out we will be moving to CO midway through next year. We have 5 cars counting my 60. Its desmogged which is an issue in CO where we will be moving. I decided that I was going to sell it. Since I didn't want to try super hard, I simply tossed a "For Sale" sign in my back glass with my number on it but no price and limited info. A guy calls and asks what I want for it so I went what I thought to be high. Well, he called my bluff and was agreeable to the price. So what did I do next? I pointed him to another 60 available down the road in hopes he would buy it and allow me to rethink my decision. Now I'm asking for help from Mud. What's a guy to do?!

Be honest.

Be honest.

Without a doubt. I think the problem is that I only have one 60 and have fallen really hard for it. If I had another I think I'd part more easily with this one but I can't get the wife to buy into my train of thought yet. Regardless with what happens I plan to have a 60 at some point in the future but really appreciate you all and the knowledge you have imparted upon me. I didn't know anything when I first bought this truck and through a small fortune and numerous dumb questions I now have a better understand but will never be at the level of many of you.

And explain how much a part of you it’s become. She’s the person you really need to be talking to.

Considering all of the work you’ve done I would go through the effort to source the correct parts and re-smog the truck.

I’ve bought a few parts from Sigfrid & Sons in Colorado, I gather they’ve got piles of 60 stuff. But, since you’ve got a city racer carb and maybe an air pump eliminator pulley? You might even find someone desmogging willing to trade with you.

I have the smog parts that came off mine that I would sell you, not too far away in AL. I need to take a pic of what I’ve got but most of it is there, minus the smog pump. I can pm you the details and some pictures if you’re interested

Thanks, I don't know that I want to go through all that at this point. I'll likely just either keep it licensed in another state or sell it.

Im with @FJACS , sell that City Racer carb. They are sweet and should go a long way to buying your smog stuff. I went back on the hunt for a 60 after selling my red truck and was surprised at what was NOT out there to buy. Be careful about selling yours, it is a way nicer truck than most Ive seen.
