97 cruiser, 320K miles now. AC running fine, put in a new compressor, evaporator, etc. etc. about 6 months ago, AC working great. Heat working great.

Lately I have been having an intermittent issue whereby the controller lights go from on to low, medium, high, feet, defrost, etc. with no issue, I can tell there is an electrical connection by sounds behind the unit. But no AC. No heat, nothing. Compressor sounds like it turns on, but no air flow. Engine temperature has no effect on it, might not kick in on cold start, might kick in with engine at 186. Very random, perhaps every 30 or 40 starts it will do it. Might do it twice. Then it works again. I'm wondering if it is a controller issue but I doubt it. I feel like it's a fan issue. Occasionally I will hear a fan sound in the dash like a straw is in the fan rattling sound. Then it stops.

Any thought as to what it might be? Controller or fan? I'll admit, haven't looked at the FSM yet, only looked at a few threads and they seemed to be unrelated.

Is this a 40th truck?

There is a controller that frequently gets dripped on from a leaky windshield and it kills the controller under the dash.

LX dnd 40th have this. Standard LC does not have the same climate control.

No, just a 97 cruiser.

Pretty easy to pull the blower fan and clean/check for debris. Other than that, maybe the blower resistor?

RESISTOR, BLOWER

Purchased this and I’m awaiting its arrival so I can get it installed.
