I've got a basic stock interior except for seats, console and retractable seatbelts.... but my wife is not impressed with the choices available to her when she is riding in the passenger side and needs to hang on. I have the handle that is over the pass door (sotck location) but it appears that simply hanging on to the padded dash in front of her is not good enough. I can relate as it would be much nicer to be able to hang on to two points and be able to lift your ass off the seat and suspend yourself and "hover" as it were over the seat during kinda gnarley wheeling. As it is, her hands get really sore ( not my problem) but she says "no more wheeling until you get me a better handle on or near the dash." She is fun to wheel with so this has to change. ;)

Anyone have any ideas? I'm not exactly keeping my pig stock ( see my signature) but I do like to keep the style as clean as possible. That said, I was thinking of through bolting a handle to the top of the dash, pass. side, but it's all pad. I'm afraid the handle will eventually pull the pad apart. Looking for a metal backing for a handle somewhere....

Sal,

I was looking at my 71, which doesn't have any pads on the dash and I'm thinking you could bend up some small dia. tubing, to fit over the top of the dash pad. Like in between the glass and the pad. Looks to be enough room to bolt it down. You would have to take out the glove box to get to the bolts.

Other thought, if your headliner is out, make up a hand hold from a roof support, in front of the dome light.

For God's sake, man, do what it takes to keep them happy!:)

Yeah, I'm thinking of going through the dash and putting the bolts up under the dash/above the glove box if needed, but I really like the idea of the roof support crossmember idea. My headliner is intact though, so I'll have to give that one a think... see how I could do that. Self tappers maybe?

Yep... trying to keep the dirty side down with Momma. It's better for all of us if our partners are happy.

Maybe check into one of the 60 type dash grab handles to see if it can be mounted? I think I bought one once and never got it mounted. But I think it's still in the garge at the house I'm buying my ex - :-(. If I get a chance in the next couple weeks ill look.
