Just looked on Jason's site and didn't see anything and Beno confirmed that the white to positive connector is NLA. Since mine is toast I am going to check with SOR and double check with jason but looks like I will be building my own fused fusible link.

Some people use a breaker.. they can also be reset. I'm not privy to the pro's and con's of that setup, but I wager Toyota used a fusible link for a reason. Maybe the smart guys will chime in.

I'm sure cruiserparts or similar can find those connectors used. Call around..if you can wait till monday :(

Yeah luckily I have a little time but hate having the truck down for something so stupid...
white to +battery connector is in ok shape however the wire is so old that it is stiffer than petrified s*** and i would love to replace it.

Since I have Fourrunner's kit and did the dedicated alt - battery connector (optional) with the 125amp megafuse I am wondering if what I am seeing as the large white fuse is the alt connection. I will take a look in the morning but after reading around I found KR's post about how he replaced them with 30a fuses that were built around 8ga wire..

Wondering if at this point it would just be easier to go that direction.

Ok looking at the wires and tracing the white wire it looks to be the alt and since I got the optional piece from fourrunner I should be good? Now thinking that a 12ga fusible should suffice for the other two lines.

Thanks Sam. Much appreciated. As you can see mine is pretty much toast and no LCs in picknpull around here.

Looks like I will be replacing with generic fusible link wires to the battery terminal. Any idea on the gauge wire? Looks to be 12ga or 14ga for the two but there is a large white wire that goes to the green connector

Greg, the part Sam quoted you is the FUSIBLE LINK section, with the connectors on both ends. The section from the + batt terminal with the male spades is REGULAR wire, not FL. It was cut from the OE battery cable when the cable was replaced. In the stock + batt cable it's molded into the terminal clamp.

Your easiest and most cost effective fix is to just buy the part from Sam and clean/repair that burnt male spade on the battery side connector. The FL wires are 18 and 20 gauge and a bit hard to find and usually only in large quantities. By the time you're done, you've spent as much $ and way more time than just buying the part.

And that connector fried at the spades for some reason, so if that hasn't been fixed, I'd look for that, too.

Yeah I started to take apart the connector last night but couldn't quite figure out how the spade was in there and realistically it looked like it was melted in there. Have a message in to jason at CruiserYard to see if he has one and then there is a Toyota recycler near me that I am going to check to see if they have the connector.

If that turns up nil I may take a ride to the local picknpull and see if I can find one off an older vehicle that matches.

Correct that only the part pictured above between the connectors is the fusible link. The wire coming off the battery is just regular wire. I was going to suggest that exact same thing. Go around some junk yards and look for a connector on another vehicle that would work. Similar year Toyota's generally have similar connector types. So just look for some 80s Toyota's. I can check a bit tomorrow and see if there are any specific vehicles you should look for.

Is the metal spade piece inside the connector on the battery side completely toast? Could you pull the wire out with the spade and clean it up? As long as it's making good contact it shouldn't matter if the plastic is a little jacked up.

I will look at it again in the morning when I can see it a bit better under some bright natural light but the three spades actually seem to be one piece inside the connector. It almost looks like they are molded into the plastic on the fusible link side. If that is true then they are not really something that could be repaired, it looks as though I would have to cut the wire off and solder a new piece on.

Oh and just looked at the local PnP and they have some 80s and early 90s Toyota pickups and 4Runners so I may take a trip out there and rummage around some.

the spade clips should pop out with a tiny screwdriver inserted into the connector in the right place--kinda tricky. Those are probably melted in place though...

Looked at it in the bright light and the plastic is definitely melted around it but I actually dont see anything wrong with the spade, the bottom one definitely needs a little cleaning up as there is some carbon on it (to be expected) so I am wondering now what size the wire is and if I could just splice in some new wire as it seems like the connector would work.

Just talked with Onur and new Fusible links is on the way, also called SOR and the guy was able to find one for me (only one they seemed to have) and that will be on its way as well. Looks like both should be here Wednesday for me. I will hold on to both and see about repairing the one +battery connector but the fusible links seems to be pretty much toast. Of course SOR is great about charging you as much for shipping of the part as the part itself. Oh well.....

So got the new fusible link today and installed it along with most of the cables from Fourruner's kit... However when i went to take off the frame rail mount for the starter the bolt snapped off in the whole. I found another bolt a short distance up that is attached to a shield around the brake hardlines. Anyone see a problem with using this location instead of a direct bolt to the framerail? I cleaned up all the contact points as best as I could (sand paper and brakekleen to get the grime off) so hopefully it will work.

Tomorrow the part from SOR should be here and then I should be ready to go.
