Hello Everyone - posting something some of you may find interesting...

I have a 2013 LX570 on 275/60/20 KO2 on stock rims. The KO2s have been on since November of 2018. I put them on about a week after I purchased the vehicle. So far they have been great with no rubbing and seem to be wearing well. Only off road use has been limited to beach driving.

About a month ago, I took the car into the dealer for an AC issue and a 65 k service. The tires were rotated as part of the service. Later that night and the next day I noticed a noise coming from the front of the vehicle. Wasn't sure that it was coming from my car at first since I had driven in traffic, etc. As I drove it more, I noticed it was only happening when I turned the wheel to the right and only at speed..roughly 15/20 mph or higher.

I was finally able to take it back to the dealer this week. We have been away and I have not been driving it much since the last service.
It turns out that the left front tire is hitting the UCA when I turn the wheel to the right.

I didn't believe them at first and when I got it home I did a full lock turn in neutral height to check the clearance...turns out they were right. The drivers side front tire is hitting the UCA. I have adequate clearance on the front passenger side with just about a finger width between the tire and the UCA at full lock.

The dealer told me the tires were just too big. I had to laugh when they said this because its not the first time I have taken the LX there..not metion the tires have been on since Nov of 2018 without any issues. The first time I brought it in, the service rep commented on how cool it looked with the KO2s. I have used the dealer for years and took my previous LS there for service exclusively. Always had a great experience and never had an issue with their work nor have ever had to bring the car back twice for the same problem. I plan to continue to use them in the future for any routine Lexus based work. I don't want to imply there is something they did wrong, etc...I just find it interesting that the tires are just "too big" and it started after the tire rotation on my last service.

So now I am curious why this is happening now after all this time. Some questions I am contemplating:

1. Could I have done something to the alignment, UCA, or some other front end component while driving to cause this?
2. Should I add spacers and/or new UCAs?
3. Should I change out the wheels with different offset and get new tires? I have already been thinking about moving to an 18" wheel, but am not sure how much longer I am going to keep it as I plan to move to a LC at some point. Also, the KO2s are really holding up well and I get see changing them out before I really need to.
4. Are the tires over inflated? The warm tire pressure during driving is about roughly 39 psi.
5. Could something have happened during the last service to cause this?
6. Do I put it up for sale and finally move the LC? That will be a hard sell to the wife.

Would welcome any inputs and thoughts for sure. I figured thought some of you would find it interesting or at least entertaining...its not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

I included some pics so you could see. If asked if 275/60/20 KO2 would work on LX570...A week ago, I would have said "yes" without hesitation, now I am not so sure.

You need to get an alignment to check the specs. Could have knocked something out. If its been fine for nearly two years and now this, it needs looked into.

If warm is 39 psi, then you’re probably UNDER-inflating those LT-D KO2s. @gaijin can chime in for proper tire pressure.

Thank you. I will definitely take it for an alignment...I had also thought about that initially. I may take it to the shop that installed the tires originally. Although I am also looking into trying to find a decent 4x4 off road shop in my area (Western Philly Suburbs)..and may take it there as well. I will check the regional forums to see who has been recommended as well. Mainline Overlanding is only a few miles from my house but I haven't reached out yet.

The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure (RCTIP) for those LT275/60R20 KO2's on an LX570 is 40psi Front/Rear.

Warm tire pressure is an unreliable measure. Tire pressures should be measured when tires are "Cold" which means the tires have equilibrated to ambient temperature, have not been sitting in the sun, and have not been driven on for at least 3 hours.

At 39psi "warm" those tires are most definitely underinflated.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. For some strange reason I had it my head that cold should be in the range of 36...I have no idea why I thought that, but will make the change today and get them up to 40.

36 psi is for STOCK OEM P-metric (“Passenger”) tires. BUT your tires are LT-rated load range D tires. You cannot use what is printed on your driver’s door to apply to your BFG KO2. LT tires need more PSI than P-metric tires.

Thank you. I am adjusting the air pressure tonight as I just finished driving it.
I am taking it for alignment and to get it everything checked out tomorrow morning at Mainline Overland: Main Line Overland: Auto, 4x4 Specialist for Cars, Jeeps, Trucks, SUVs
It's my first time going there but pretty excited. When I spoke with them on the phone we already talked a bunch about some mods for the LX and my Tundra.

On the OP's 2013 LX570 the RCTIP for the stock P285/50R20 111V tires is 33psi F/R.

Seems like neither one of you has a firm handle on where the 36psi came from... 🤷‍♂️

For sure..I didn't....thanks again for the recommendation

how long your truck was in service ? front bumper was repainted for sure ......

- Car was first was put into the service: 1/11/14 - when the original owner bought it from the dealer
- Original owner traded it in and it was offered for sale 10/05/2018
- I bought it around 11/17/2018 and have had it ever since

I never noticed the difference in color of the bumper vs the body until I read your comment and looked again. I have not had the bumper resprayed at any point in my ownership. I went back and pulled some old pics from the day I bought it and the day I had the KO2s put on. I was looking at the date/time stamps of the pics and I actually put the KO2s on December of 2018...almost a month later...and not a week like I had remembered.

You can see a difference in color but doesn't seem as pronounced.

Are there adjustable wheel stops?

Are there adjustable wheel stops?
I am not sure actually.

I did drop the car off this morning at mainline overland to get it checked out and do an alignment...will see what they say about it.

Steering stops are built into LCA and the ball joint retainer. You shouldn’t be hitting one side only. That size tire should be clearing UCA at lock. Interested to see what they find

Me too. Heading over in a few minutes to pick it up and get all the details...I was also surprised it was only hitting one side.

Thanks again for all who helped and chimed in with this. An alignment seems to have fixed the issue. I am going to drive it more tomorrow and will report back just to be sure, but it felt really great on the short drive home today. Can't say enough good things about Mainline Overland in West Chester PA. They were really great with answering all my questions, etc. And it was cool to see the evo corse wheels in person. Somehow I walked out of there with a fixed rig and a new set of maxxtraxx, mounting pins, and a rapid tire deflator
...and a quote for a complete suspension overhaul for the tundra.

On the bumper color difference- I rubbed the paint off the bumper of my white LX the other day. Was so pissed that I drove straight to the body shop for an estimate. While standing there staring at it, the shop owner and I got in to a conversation about the color difference between the body and the bumper due to one being plastic vs metal.

As an aside, $1500 to respray the bumper cover...
