Hey Guys,
I have a 90 4Runner with a 3L
7" Total lift
3" of it was body lift

Installing the Body lift lowered my motor relative to the intake's stock molded air hose, and caused it to not line up anymore.

I used a 3 1/4" Ducting hose to connect it up and installed my PCV into the air box( i don't know the tech name of it )

The truck is running ok, but i need something way more sturdy.

If i have even a slight change in air pressure, my truck barely runs.

Has anyone encountered this and come up with a cheap solution?
Maybe built a snorkel set up that didn't mess with the intake sensors?

I priced out the safari snorkel system and its way to much money and i dont even know if my truck will run with it unless its hooked up after my air box and all the sensors.

Thanks so much!!

You might try shortening the hose you have... It looks like you could take off 3-4 inches without any trouble... Or you could try turning the connector box to point at the intake and cutting the stock hose to fit? Without seeing it in person it's a little hard to suggest a fix though... :D

The problem with the flexible hose is it'll compress and expand, and this will effectively lie to your air flow meter and make it run poorly....

Thanks!! Glad to find such an awesome forum!

I was hoping to find an option that was a lot stronger
The vac of the engine starting has broken this hose once already

I looked into those neoprene hoses for turbos, but they're expensive, and very hard to find the right size and angle. They also have to be specially ordered.

Next thought is some 3 inch ABS with a 45 on the end and 2 of the rubber adapters you'll find in the plumbing section... You'll probably have to rotate the mid-airbox, but that would be much stronger, and probably less than $15-20 all together.

you might also be able to lift the air box....that should be relatively uncomplicated and easy....?

just throwing that out there.

edit: I forgot how the air gets to it, and don't have mine here to look at

Right on!
Thanks guys!
Ill check out the ABS.
I wish there was a way to lower the AirSystem so it would just line back up, but there's a second section that hooks up with a bunch of stuff in below, as you can see in the bottom right corner of the pic.

Does anyone have pics of a home made snorkel set up from within the engine compartment?
