Hey Howdy,

I installed the powertrax locker contraption today, seemingly successfully. However when I put the 2nd c-clip in I kinda lost track of it in the grease. I think I got it on. That being said, I went and finished the installation, everything seems to work fine, the pinion shaft went in just fine, etc. etc. As the axle doesn't seem to want to come off (I tried) can I assume that since it all went together the c-clip likely found its home?

UPDATE: I have banged along 4 miles of rocky trail and every thing is still together so I guess I did it correctly.

Egads.......
Don't know much about the c-clip but I'd double check for peace of mind. Having an axle walk out would suck.

What'd it run you ($$)?

Pics? :D

The locker cost $370 ish if I remember correctly. They (LockRite) do not make them any more however. I got that bit of info from the LockRite people directly. I do have one more new however. I just need to see if I want to put it up front.

So was this a bolt in mod (afternoonish easy)?
Is a Lockright selectable or full time?

LockRite is a afternoon for a rear axle. On the front end you have to pull the front axles out. A lot more work.

LockRite is the only locker made for the corse spline locker available. If they still are. At one time you could get a Torsen limited slip for the corse spline, that was few years ago. Other than that I've never heard of any else for the Land Cruisercorse spline axles.

Edit LockRite is a full time locker

I'm gonna say a full time front is a bad idea then. my.02

I'll buy it off you should you decide the same. :D

For installation I can say that it was pretty simple. You need some jack stands, a jack, a socket set, something to clean up the gasket surfaces, gasket material, a bucket, new rear-end oil, new cover bolts (throw out the old studs), and a bit of time. Maybe 3 hours more or less.

I cannot tell you how it works until I get my gas tank back from the shop, maybe Friday or so.

Did the powertrax come with the cross pin or do you reuse it from the Toyota diff?

I "Thought" I got the c-clip on once during a trail repair and found out pretty quickly that I didnt once I tried drive the truck back down the trail.

I reused the existing cross pin, the kit did not come with one. Also I was treated to gears that looked nearly new. No wear marks on the gears and thick bronze washers. I was happy.

I hope that means that I did get it on then. I did try to knock off the wheel/tire/axle prior to taking it for a spin.

if everything in the diff looks ok and you cant grab the tire and pull the whole axle out you should be good.
