Is there a diagram for most years where all the parts are labeled with the most popular decals for the very detailed restorations? I have searched. I know there is a few threads on under hood, but wondered if all were in one place. I know most are self explainatory, but thought I would ask.

Mine are in the original locations on my 77, need a pic?

Yes, that would be great!

I see this is your second attempt at starting a thread on this topic BTUMAN.

Let's not let this one suffer the same fate as the last. (ie. Die without any real results!)

I've just taken some photos of the ex-factory decals on my 1979 BJ40 which I'll post up shortly. (Just got to get back on a different computer that I'm more familiar with.)

I'll be showing all the original decals that are left on my cruiser and I'll even try and include a couple that have disappeared during my ownership.

I was actually thinking of starting a thread on this topic when I received a few new decals in the mail this last week.

See ya again shortly............And thanks for initiating the thread. .... Subscribed of course

OK.... For the benefit of owners of similar-year BJ40 models to mine ........

This is the factory-original decal on my radiator cap:

DecalOriginal2.webp

This is the factory-original decal on my air cleaner assy:

DecalOriginal1 002.webp
(The factory was a bit sloppy because it has a slight clockwise tilt.)

And here is the factory-original decal on my valve cover:

DecalOriginal3.webp
(It may have been mounted by the same assembly-line worker because it is once again tilted. Although this time - anticlockwise.)

And here is the decal the factory placed on my fuel door (that I've since lost during a recent repaint):

DecalFuelDoor.webp

And here are replacement decals I've just bought from Cruiser Parts. Net. ..............

Note that the Air Cleaner decal I've bought isn't an exact match to the original (and I knew it wouldn't be because there are MANY Toyota variations of this particular sticker and I'm in an obscure third-world Toyota-market :D).

And here's where I need help ...... I am pretty sure that the antifreeze sticker matches the one that I lost from the inside-base of my driver's quarterlight window during recent door refurbishment work. But I am relying on someone posting into this thread to show me its exact positioning.

Edit: Damn... After posting these photos I see that even the new valve cover decal isn't a match! (So I may not end up fitting it.)

Further edit: Sorted the valve cover sticker error with Cruiserparts.net. They've apologised for the difference between the sticker I received and the image they showed on their website. (And I can assure everyone that they are "restoration-enthusiasts" and value "exactness" just as we do.)
I'm getting another sticker in the mail (from their supplier) with "white" instead of "reflective".

Does anyone have some good pictures of the sticker placement for an "F" motor? We have a stock '71 FJ40 and would like to put stickers back on the motor and body after it's repainted. Thanks!

tom, whats wrong with the engine decal? I havent received my 2b decal yet from cruisercorps in your pic it looks silver with blue instead of white - blue... is that what you,re mentioning?

Yes. My existing OEM sticker has a WHITE background.

And the replacement sticker I just bought (because of the damage to the original one) from Cruiser Parts . NET has a silver background.

Yet this is the image on their website right now for the same sticker :

And I stumbled across the Cruiser Parts .NET offerings from your thread here:

Edit: It has all been sorted with Cruierparts.net now. There was a genuine shipment error that they genuinely regret so my confidence in them is fully restored. Not only that ... they're intent (or actually "their supplier" is intent) on providing me with the correct sticker to match my original.

here is what I believe to be where the antifreeze sticker goes. Mine is there, but completely faded. I have a new one on order and it looked the same shape, etc. Notice in pictures it is on the passenger quarter window and how it is completely clear. All original glass on my 1978.

Thanks BTUMAN.

Pretty regularly now, things happen to me that convince me that I've gone senile (& really have lost my marbles ) . So I''ll share the latest of these experiences with y'all now (for a laugh at my expense).

Upon reading your post, I ventured outside to place my new CruiserNET antifreeze decal on my glass. ....... Now my once-reliable memory was telling me that I used to have one on my right hand side driver's quarterlight window. So from your post I figured: "passenger's side for a LHD vehicle"......."driver's side for a RHD vehicle" ..... "So Toyota always placed the sticker on the RH side, at the bottom, and as far forward as possible."

So away I went and VERY carefully transferred my new decal to my driver's quarterlight window.

Then I leaned back to admire my handiwork .....

DecalCruiserNet.webp

Looks nice eh? And I didn't even put it on the wrong side of the glass!

But then, to my horror .... I glanced at my PASSENGER'S quarterlight window .... And looky here at what I discovered there:

DecalOrig4A.webp

DecalOrig4B.webp

Yep! I never lost the original decal during my door refurbishment after all. The correct original one was/is still damned-well there! :o

So now I have a "US-market 31oF/-35oC decal" on my RH glass and an original "Australian-market -12oC/10oF decal" on my LH glass. (I'm just assuming the Cruiser.net sticker is based on a US-market original)

Ah well. Adds to the character of my "special cruiser" now I suppose. (I can tell this story to who-ever happens to notice that there are two decals and/or the discrepency between them.)

As least I think we can conclude from this that Toyota always placed the antifreeze decal on the PASSENGER side glass (regardless of whether the vehicle is LHD or RHD).

And it suggests this Cruiser.net decal is a pretty good copy too.

I think threads such as this are vital for people restoring these cruisers so PLEASE let's have responses showing "original decals in original locations" for a wide range of models.

And my previous image of my BJ40 air cleaner decal doesn't show what's left of the wording so to remedy that ... here's a close-up pic with the "best-match replacement" that I could find from Cruiser.net below it:

(Soon ALL the wording might be rubbed off so it may be the last opportunity to show what a genuine 1979 Australian-market BJ40 Air Cleaner decal really looked like.)

Gents

Here are three photos of decals that I have. I have a PO modified 8/77 FJ40 that is slowly being re-modified towards a stock truck. 1st) this is my emissions sticker on the under side of the hood located on the PS just forward of the hinge mounts

IMG_0113.webp

2nd) is the sticker on the top of the brake booster

IMG_0115.webp

3rd and final pic) this is on the air cleaner from an early '76 model purchased from a fellow Mudder (getting closer to dumping the Webber for Aisin) I Took the picture just the other day when I dropped the air cleaner off to be soda blasted and powder coated.
IMG_0107.webp

I just finished sill replacement and paint on the rear and will be working forward, I would really like to replace some of these old stickers as I finish the body work. Hope this helps someone:meh:

Looks great to me and I know the feeling. I didn't even know the antifreeze sticker was what that was supposed to be until i saw it on a website for sale and realized that must be what that was.

II have an original owners manual that I can scan or take a pic of that will help on al lot. However it has a hood liner depicted and the emission sticker is black with white letters when I know they were white with black letters.

Here is a list I'd my immediate needs for location on a 78:

If I go back with a carb cooler (just because) I wonder where the fan warning stickers goes?

Did the white sticker "warning" about greasing after driving in water/sand and showing the lube points only for 1981 and above? Looks cool and I bought one- but not sure where.

Does the valve clearance sticker go on the hood underside opposite of the emissions sticker (which is specific to each year)?

For those with defrost side window ducts, where did they put the "locking hub"
sticker?(can't go where others go due to vent) (mine on door jamb, but I can tell it was reapplied or something.

And lastly, where does the rear heater decal go?

I winged it on the rear seat decals. (yes there was a sticker and I found it).

Think I just found the proper placement of the heater sticker. I snagged this photo off of a "1970 Barn Find" on eBay.
