Also...yes your 22 r head should work

OMG, I've never seen any thing like that site before, some one please tell me the cam specs are the same for all 22r's/e's.

TMK they are!! My 88+ chiltons has disintigrated with use(ttt) or I'd know, WTF.
That site looks hard to nav. and in some cases makes no sence. My advice is to get a copie of : Toyota Truck & Land Cruiser, owners bible by Moses Ludel. It's not the end all be all of books but I'd take his word over the above's link. There is an indepth carb to EFI write up.
I hate this becouse of credibility, sort of well..............

" There was some sort of smog device bolted to where the EFI fuel filter goes. It isnt used with EFI and was discarded as were the air tubes that go above the header." WHA?...OH.... the thingie that goes to the the other thingie! (NIGI)

"The upper radiator hose is different between carb and EFI" CHA?

"Also, the cam in an EFI motor and a carb motor are different" NAW?

I might be a little c r azzzzy here but, I think, IMHO, aka could be wrong, but I think there the same.

He does know the FP lobe comes off and a spacer is used on EFI right?
I reserve the right to be wrong.

I'm 99% sure the cams are slightly different. But not enough to notice too much. My advice for any EFI swap is sell your truck and buy a FI'd one, unless you like the sucky part of doing an engine swap, IE the wireing.......

I dono sounds like a good deal to me $150 for everything??? f-in do it! it may be a little bit of an undertaking but its just running wires and plugin stuff in. Not anything extremely hard just a lot of simple stuff to do is all.

Anyways if you end up doin it take a buncha photos and post up the build on mud so people like you will have refrence to someone elses sucess!!!

You have to have the laser block for the swap to work(8\84 and up)the heads are different on the older blocks. You cant just switch the heads either, because the deck height is different on the blocks. If you try to swap the heads the timing chain will either be too long or too short depending on what chain you use. Best bet is to use the entire engine out of the donar truck. Pretty sure the intake form the efi wont bolt up to the 84 head(unless your lucky and have the laser block in your truck right now.if you do the valve cover should be sqaured offed not rounded, also look for a circular casting mark on the driver side of the block behind exhaust manifold)If you can find a earlier injected celica than get the intake off of that.

TRY THIS................. For the above.........

I once had what I think was an 84 block it had what i call ridge top pistons a ring around the top that makes putting an EFI head on immpossable.

TRY (becouse I have not) a turbo head (EFI) it has a (cc) open chamber like the 20R or 2MN the old ***carb only*** 84? and earlier head.

As I said try this, I might, and probably am wrong but it's in my head so.......

Deck hights? Shave the head?

P.S This might bump you up in compression ratio
