has anyone ever experimented with raising the seat,

maybe 1 to 1 1/2 inches to get more leg room.

seems that there is plenty of head room.

or is this just wishful thinking?:)

I've seen a couple of 45's with 'spacers' on the front of the driver's seat to try and get some more leg room without lifting the torso closer to the roof. Makes the gap between the steering wheel and your legs really tight....AND tips your head back into the back of the cab.

I was thinking about this as well especially since my seat is "soft". I feel like I sink when I get in it. I was actually thinking of getting it fixed so that it's firmer as this would help some and then raising it a little too. I don't want to replace it with aftermarket -I like the bench look. I don't know about tilting the seat back with no head rest. I already don't like that my head is so close to the glass. A friend of mine got rear ended and hit his head on the rear windshield. This happened about 10 years ago and he still talks about it. :doh:Let us know how it works out.

I put bucket seats on a stock seat frame. I stretched the passenger side frame to go all the way across. It really raised the seating position, there is a lot more room for my legs and it is much more comfortable on long trips. I do have a tilt column that is allways in the highest position. The only drawback is at traffic lights. I have to lean forward or duck down to see up that high.
BTW, this is in a SWB-RT

thanks much for the replies. doesn't seem to bother me except on longer trips. the no doors approach sure does work with the left foot on the side board.:)

I rode in a RT 45 with a mini truck bench that had the head rest and it was pretty roomy and the elevated seat gave a nicer view, of course this rig had a tilt column out of a 60..

On my last 45 lpb, I put 1" blocks under the mounts of the seats just so I could see over the dash! Not really why I did it, but it was a big improvement for me...At 5-6, i kinda thought those cabs were quite roomy. And, what's a 'traffic light' ?

Nope, but I can see Canada from many viewpoints on this island. Victoria BC is actually south of us. On a quiet night I can hear their square bezeled FJ45s rusting....

Its a Chrystler Cordoba, with Carinthian leather.... Still want a picture?
Too bad!
