Impressions after AHC removal

I've had my AHC system completely removed from my 2004 LC about 4 months ago.. Everything was functioning fine at the time.. I've had minor problems with finding the best adjustment that felt like stock for the rear AHC sensors though.. My LC has no traction control nor any other similar system (TRAC, limited slip diffs, etc.).. It has a rear locker instead so I don't know if removing the AHC system affects other systems.. These are the components that I have removed:

- AHC shocks
- 1 AHC fuse from engine fuse panel
- 2 AHC fuses from driver side fuse panel
- Center console control buttons/knob
- Hydraulic fluid pump
- Hydraulic fluid piping
- Actuators & Accumulators
- Hydraulic fluid container
- AHC sensors
- (did I forget anything?)

Because of the extra weight I have in my truck, I replaced the OME860 springs with OME864 which works pretty well.. Initially, I've replaced the AHC shocks with OME 133 & 101 shocks.. These shocks were recommended by ARB for heavier vehicles so there were pretty stiff (remember that I was used to AHC which is quite soft and adjustable).. I wasn't happy with the ride so I opted for LTR shocks.. I've had the LTRs on for 3 weeks now and things are starting to look much better.. I can also control the stiffness of the LTRs by adjusting the nitrogen pressure which is a plus (it is at 70psi now).. After removing the fuses, the AHC lights and LC shape went off and are barely visible in the instrument cluster now..

I'm happy with the decision I've made.. the rear end handles much better now especially when everything is loaded (water, gas, gear).. The thing I miss the most about AHC is the ability to adjust the shocks (comfort, sport, etc) on the fly.. Self leveling was also nice, I do sometimes miss how the LC lowered it's front end when I park it at our garage ramp..

In general, AHC was much more comfortable on and off road but the LTR performance on and off road (no rocks here) is way better

Glad to hear that... I think your car is much reliable now... Great choice with the LTR... I've ordered the rear once... Till I have enough $$ I will get the frontez

Just curious. Since the AHC was more comfortable, more adjustable and was self levelling, in which way is the "performance" better?

I hope you get the chance to install LTRs front and rear.. They're really worth it

Dampening of LTR's happens faster than AHC.. AHC used to take it's sweet time in dampening and obsorbing the shock.. Driving at high speeds on the sand now feels more stable.. and the LC doesn't feel like it's going to tip over when cornering at moderate speeds.. Keep in mind that I am not comparing the LTR's to how AHC was when the LC was stock.. I am comparing the two after adding all the mods (bumpers, drawers, water+gas tank, etc.)
