Been trying to find the 10 digit HTS customs code for diesel engine, still searching the gov site to figure this out, just hoping someone already has this number. thanks

Need intended use, number of cylinders and displacement to get the correct code.

For example, for a 4 liter, 6 cylinder diesel for use in a Landcruiser, start at 8408.20.20.00

Whatever you have should be close to that.

I came up with 8408.15.00 for the power rating? what's the rest of the numbers? supposed to be 10 digits

8408.20 is diesel engines for the propulsion of vehicles

The next number, 20, indicates the motor is for use in passenger cars and/or light duty trucks

The last number, 00, is just a place holder since there’s no further categorization necessary.

Not sure where the 15 comes from. Marine motors maybe?

For the purpose of HTS, Hp or Kw ratings aren't relevant for diesel engines that are used for propulsion of road vehicles. If it's a marine engine, or a stationary motor (generator, industrial motor, etc.), then yes, HP matters and there are different codes for different ranges of power.

Both the 1HZ and the 1HDt are diesel engines that are used for the propulsion of vehicles that would be under HTS heading 8703 or 8704, depending on whether the vehicle is passenger carrying or cargo carrying by nature.

Pretty sure 8408.20.20.00 is what you're looking for, but your Customs Broker would know for sure.
