I hate the ihmud pop ups, Toyota is one of the worst. I know advert. are necessary but some of these make me not want to buy the product. Site may need to change name to ihadvertising. MIke

Hi, Most mud help takes place behind the scenes in personal calls, private e-mails and helping at someones house at 11.00 at night when you have to help them get to work the next day. mud shipping to someones house when no one else is around. Trips to see cruisers for someone whos to far away to go themselves. Using your cruiser in storm damaged areas when the need arises. I dont feel a need to toot my own horn when I give something back. Thanks, MIke

You're bitching about pop ups? You have 5,600 posts so you obviously use MUD. A star is $20 a year. Don't complain about someone you can make go away for so little money. If you can't afford it, PM me your email and I'll gift you a star.

Not to disparage your version of "MUD" help, but I think the vast, vast majority of MUD users have a different operating model of MUD's version of "help". Keep doing what you're doing, but $20 bucks is a bargain for the on-line reference you get here.

Buy a star!

quit bitching, i know my name does not have a star buy it but it will next year, i lost mine due to a BAN!

So what would buying a star help with the pop ups? If I buy products from suppliers who pay to advertise on this site, which I do, does this not put money into this site. I believe this site is for profit unless Im wrong and its purpose is non- profit. I dont believe Insults are needed.unless one lacks the skills to debate. Mike

Popup ads are not allowed per any of my advertising contracts.

I caught one this morning and promptly contacted that network, who fixed the issue within their ad network system.

EXPANDING ads are very different, and are used by a number of networks. A few direct advertisers are starting to use them in their 728x90 ad slot as well. They must require a user action (ie: mouse click) to open, not a simple mouseover or one that opens automatically.

Fram just had their expanding program removed last week since theirs only required a mouseover, not an action.

I see more ads than guests. Far more than any registered user, since ANY logged in member gets rewarded by less ads than visitors/guests. When I catch offending ads, I track them down and handle issues as quickly as I can.

I'd still hop on that free star Mike

I think these ads are simply misplaced, this one should be in the allocated Sponsored Link space between posts, instead it is below that space covering a post. I drop in every week or so, sometimes at a hotel or work computer, don't sign in unless I see something I want to comment on. Over the last few months I've had to sign in to avoid seeing these ads covering posts.

Logged in users see less ads than guests. And ads are also tiered, so those with 250+ posts see less than those with 10 posts.

Browser and OS helps...guessing Win7 and IE8 (IE8, from what I'm researching, was problematic)

Vista and IE9 at home, Vista and IE8 or 9 at work, not sure. Back to the iPad for travelling this weekend, I'll see what I get there if I have a chance.

Per the other thread on this same issue, I believe I've tracked the issue and handled it.

Maybe it's just me then.

curious...what happens when you mouseover (not click) the image? does it expand? And to what size?

I've got one newer ad network that I "believe" has errors in their expandable ad management...where the initial position of the ad falls into the lower-area of the expandable space, NOT within the original space....and if it expands upwards, that confirms it.

That screen shot helps narrow down which network is the issue. I work with dozens within each adslot position, unfortunately that makes tracking the issue a challenge.

Thanks :)

Doesn't expand when I roll over it. A couple screenshots while signed in:

I'm just now getting a bunch of annoying popup ads, one saying I need to download some update...

And sometimes I get redirected from MUD to some auto dealerships website.

NONE of the ad networks are authorized to do popup ads. I despise them too.

As a SS member, you should see almost NO banners tho, do you have all the options switched in your User CP??

However, I can't track what I can't catch...screen shots
