The ignitor in our '80 Toyota 4x4 truck went out. We use this truck as one of our 2 daily feed trucks to feed the wildlife on the ranch I manage. So, we need to get it running ASAP! We've called every salvage yard we can find around here and nobody has any ignitors. Big surprise.
After some poking around on the net, I've found some possible work-arounds like using a GM coil and a 4-pin HEI module or, maybe, using a MSD coil and ignition. I was going to give them a call tomorrow and see if they have any suggestions. What I'm wondering is, what's the most dependable and easiest fix for a bad ignitor? Y'all are the experts.
I'm assuming that there isn't a direct-swap aftermarket solution for a 1980 20R ignitor? I couldn't find one.
Does anyone know of a reliable source for a used Toyo 20R ignitor? We're so isolated we're pretty used to ordering stuff around here but I have no idea where/how to find one outside our local salvage yards. Are there any big Toyo-specific salvage yards?
Sure could use y'all's help. Thanks to those that reply!
