Still chasing down this intermittent no crank issue and I’ve gotten down to where the ignition switch connects to the harness. The connector is I12 but it seems like I have an extra extension pieces between the main harness and the ignition. I wondering if this is normal or if someone has added this afterward. The rear heater switch and rear heat relay are wired into this intermediate harness so maybe that’s why it’s there? The EWD shows this connection should be higher up in the dash.

Looks good from my house... 😬

My guess is that the previous owner wired in the rear heater switch as an ignition kill switch.

I would remove the extension piece and fix everything properly.

I'd see if there's anyone local that has the same truck so you could compare the two. Any chance that interposed section is for an aftermarket alarm or remote start?
Hoping someone here may have there dash partially disassembled at the moment and can easily take a look at their wiring and see if they have something similar or if I actually have some extra wiring I'm not supposed to, haha!

here are a few photos from when I had my dash disassembled. Look at the wire colors and compare.

This.

The extension piece is part of the factory alarm, it's normally where the starter cut relay gets added into the ignition circuit. Yours looks altered in all kinds of ways.

Edit: found some pics of the alarm harness.

The square connector is where the starter cut relay normally goes, like this:

Great info! Thanks! So if there is no more alarm no need for the extension piece, right? Just take it out and fix all the bad splices? I was thinking cut anything that has broken insulation, heat shrink and solder anything cut back together …
