Recently my ignition barrel rod broke an I had to source a replacement. The part number on the broken rod was 7853A. As I could not find that part I purchased part 7853B and got it installed by a competent locksmith.

I sourced the part from Tafmet in Poland for less than 20 € + shipping to Spain. Altough the picture in the website has the part number stamped, mine came without it.

I also bought a very cheap EGR delete kit which I plan to install soon.

So far the part works as intended. I have read that part 7853B may cause parasitic battery drain so I will monitor it and will report in a few weeks if there are any issues.

Here are pictures of both the old broken part and the new one:

Any parasitic draw on the battery to report?

Nothing yet. Car starts and runs wihout issues so far.

I am not sure how to measure the parasitic draw so can't confirm but will try to investigate how to do it and report back.

From the research I have done looking at photos of the different parts.....the end "key" is positioned exactly the same for the 7853A and 7853B. I have yet to see them different. I have also seen where the 7853B was the broken piece taken from the LX470....of which all have the power steering column. Also, as the OP stated, I have seen reports where 7853B has worked fine for LX's. The picture on an ebay item mentioning to make sure to get the 7853A to prevent parasitic drain was comparing it to 7850 B......not 7853B.
