iForceMax Tacoma for electric lawn care business/Leisure

Hey guys, out of Northwest Indiana. Picked up a 2025 Tacoma Off-Road iForce Max in Bronze Oxide. Goes by “Beans.” (Sep 1, 2025)


I run an all electric lawn care business, so this thing pulls work duty every day. It hauls my mowers, batteries, and tools during the week, then doubles as my daily and weekend truck. I went hybrid because it just fits what I do. I can charge all my gear anywhere, it’s quiet, and it gets way better mileage towing than my 5th gen 4Runner did empty. I’m easily seeing 25–30 MPG, which still blows my mind.


Couldn’t be happier with how this setup’s been handling both business and fun. Looking forward to seeing how everyone else is using theirs. They hybrid does a great job of eliminating "trailer lug" on take off with the power and has avg 17mpg towing for me around town.

Finally knocked out some peace of mind maintenance before winter hits. Got the truck fully cleaned up and then rolled over to my buddy Joe’s shop at ChiTown4x4 to have the underside Fluid Filmed.


If you live in the Midwest and have owned Toyotas, you already know the paranoia is justified. Frame rust horror stories are everywhere around here, and I’ve seen way too many good trucks get taken out early by salt. I’d rather overprotect now than regret it later.


Undercoating done, frame sealed up, and now I’ll be messy working on it if I have to. That’s the price of Fluid Film. She’s officially winter ready and ready to be worked on for years to come.


Of course, I couldn’t resist documenting the moment. Camera was with me as always Sony A6600 paired with the 85mm f1.8. Definitely overkill for an undercoating session but that combo just hits different.

Headed down to LaSalle Fish and Wildlife Area to check out what’s left of the fall colors before everything goes full winter mode. Threw the dogs in the truck and just set out to wander some back roads, slow things down a bit, and enjoy the scenery while it lasts.


After seeing the colors, we took a longer loop just to put some miles on the truck driving back roads, windows down, dogs hanging out, and me soaking in the fact that this is my first brand new truck ever. That feeling hasn’t worn off yet.


This time of year always hits different. The cool air, empty stretches of road, and those last pops of color in the trees make Indiana look way better than it usually gets credit for.

Back out to LaSalle to check out some new fishing spots. Now that everything is frozen, I can just walk to spots to pin on the map. Had the 85mm with me again and a buddy so wanted to try my hands and panning shots on the tacoma which didnt turn out that great tbh lol. The other shots did though.

Was able to track down a 10 acre plot for the future barndominium. The tacoma doesnt look to bad parked up. Took Dad out on the property in it, we went in on the property together. He didnt admit, but the grin on his face said it all just puttin around in the truck. He hates to show excitement lol. Really wanted to cross our ditch but its just too deep and the truck does not have the departure/approach. I'll be able to drive back there once the bridge is built.

Its grass season all over. Although the truck putting out 2400 watt was more than enough power to recharge what I needed, I was able to grow a bit more than the electric riding mower was able to keep up with. My depletion to recharge rate just was not able to keep up. Pricing it out, I was looking at $4500-5000 in more batteries to keep up with the 20 clients I have, on the side of my day job. Ended up moving on from the Ego 42" electric riding mower and jumped into a scag patriot 52" the truck is hauling everything around perfectly. I would like to upgrade trailers or add trailer brakes to this one since the truck has the factory brake controller. Would be nice to take that stopping load off the truck. Currently had 7300 miles. Id say 5000 of those have been towing this setup. Still avg 17/18 mpg. I did end up adding a BANKS intake which I have been enjoying the sound and lower to mid range power added. Seems the truck spools 200-300rpm quicker which for around town has been extremely noticeable for me. Not as noticeable without the trailer.

So, are you saying the truck isn't able to recharge your batteries at the rate that you need to keep up on the day-to-day job?

What brand of trimmers and blowers are you using? I am in need of a backpack blower and really don't want to get a gas one (for all the reasons). But dayum... Stihl gets waaaaay too much for their stuff. Like, $2G just to get setup, with one battery that only runs for about 20 minutes. Nope.

Yes/No. My rate of usage is higher than what the truck can provide back....or I can buy a ton more batteries and be good. My fear was the investment into MORE batteries and continued growth on the platform (Ego). Switching out the rider for a gas one and recreating a hybrid design has opened up ALOT more bigger yards for me as well as providing a way better cut tbh
