If you cook with dutch ovens often, you know they somehow make everything taste better. When my family goes camping, we cook almost everything in our dutch ovens, but nothing beats having cake in the woods.

Ingredients:
Boxed Cake Mix
Pie filling - Canned (Your Favorite Kind)
Eggs, Oil, (whatever the box mix calls for)
Charcoal

From this point on, its just like making a cake at home, the only difference is adding the fruit filling to your batter and heating up your dutch oven. My Dad usually goes by the rule of one briquette equals about 10 degrees. If you do it right, you can tell when its done by the smell,... its amazing!

We usually make a yellow cake, but any will do, but the best part is the fruit pie filling. It comes in a can, and you can buy it almost anywhere. You can use whatever kind of fruit filling you like best, (cherry is always a good bet).

Note: your filling will likely sink to the bottom, don't worry about it.

So try it out, Its damn good!

I love doing this.
DO cookery is the only way to go.

Maybe we can swap talk at a PMC meeting sometime soon, Seeing as you're in Saint Joe.
