Ideas to mount shovel to back seat...

If I use quickfists they will be self-tapped into the seat itself. This should have more surface area than the MPAC and will be very tough

Actually that is not true...the quick fist uses a #10 size bolt or screw and the sheet metal of the seat back is probably very thin. With off roading, your tools will move and flex...probably a self tapping screw in a quick fist will loosen over time.

The MPAC rack can get away with self tapping screws in this application because you have a multitude of mounting points (usually 8-10) and the MPAC rack does not flex against the mounting surface.

If you plan on mounting quick fists directly to the back seat...really consider backing it with a large washer on the opposite side.

The back seat of my FJ Cruiser has MPAC racks mounted to it...I find that it is most useful for stuff in MOLLE bags and for extra tow straps. I tend to bag my shovel and axe and throw them onto the roof rack. :)

Check out this pic..
You could do this on the back of the rear seat..

I have only had to used a shovel when I got stuck on ice... and the folding shovel from the surplus store was enough...
I keep it under the driver or pass seat...

With a bad back, I'd rather use a full size shovel.

Maybe I'll skip the Quickfists and just mount the stuff to the net with HD velcro or something

Got the webbing and other stuff today, dropping off to seamstress (is that what they are called?) tomorrow. This one caught my eye as she was advertising ghillie suits on craigslist....sweet! I'll post pics once it's done.

Can you post close-ups of how it locks? Nice TR-6. My uncle had several MGs before he died. I had so much fun driving those...good memories. Those British cars rule (if you know how to work on 'em!)

How's this? I'll try and get some closer shots.

I've had my TR 15 years and it still runs like a Toyota! We were heading out for a nice sunny Saturday drive when the pic was shot.

Thanks!

Good luck
