I think this engine along with @TonyP 1HZ proves how solid these Toyota 1Hx series engines are though.

You can see in the video above this FT runs good, smokes very little and starts super easy in below freezing temps.

Tony’s 1HZ has 100psi on #3 and it also started up fine, hardly smoked at all and ran good.

Not many engines in particular diesels out there that can do this.

Heard about this guy that pulled apart his 3B and it had a broken main bearing cap.... super tough.

Sorry about the bad news. I bet its not the end of it for sure.

I have a pretty good idea what caused it. If you pull the rocker arm shaft, you're likely to find a lot of excessive wear and scoring on it. In markets where these engines are very common, with EGR valve, it is a very well known and documented issue that is caused by carbon buildup on intake valve stems.
