The 27-spline Longfields and hub gears showed up today :bounce::bounce::bounce:

I'm guessing that the install will be pretty straight forward. If anyone has info to the contray let me know.

Can I plan on reusing the gaskets...I replaced them about a year ago when I rebuilt the axle.

It has been awhile since I rebuilt the front end but vaguely remember using a length of pipe slipping the shafts inside and beating it on the floor to remove the shafts.

Is this what you are referring too?

When did you do THAT? and where were you?

FYI the front end shouldn't bounce up and down while the pedal is pressed to the floor :flipoff2: :hillbilly:

The Iceman trail in South Dakota. I had a rock (rather large) between my front axle and transfer case. When I tried to back out I thought "I should get the high lift out" and then let out the clutch. I ended up getting the high lift out anyway. :o When it snapped it blew the Aisian hub apart also.

That Long was the second generation after he stopped welding rings on OE birfs and right before he began the 27 and 30 spline monsters. He assures me these new ones should never break with only 35" tires. He even tried to talk me out of hub gears, but I needed them to convert some IFS hubs to solid axle.
