.( I am going out to the garage and rub the belly of my cruiser and wish you good cruiser karma.)

You made me laugh and that hurt.

But it may have worked.

RavenTai I sent you a PM, and Mot, thanks!
After I got Jude back to sleep I needed to get out of the house. She seems much better.
Well I went and looked and photo'd both trucks, I reached into my truck under the buckling of the hood. I removed my brand NEW radiator cap and the radiator was completly full. Well I couldn't visual it but the bottom of the cap dripped when removed and my finger came out completly wet :flipoff2: . The force of the impact was stopped before it even reached the radiator, Dam what a tank!

The other guys truck didn't do so well.
The yard where they took his truck escorted me back so that I could take Pics, My escort told me that the driver had shown up yesterday to collect personal property. He was denied access becouse his name was not on the truck ( He came in there claiming that it was his truck) so then it was"well I just bought it from ???"whos name was also not on the truck so then it became, "nd he baught from so and so before I baught it,"who knows.

Any way they refused to let him into the truck. At that point the attendent told me that the drivers companion pushed the attendant out of the way and started heading twards were their truck sat. Unfortunently for the driver and his friend all the yelling and threatening thet were doing attracted the attention of two Troopers who were in the yard on another case, They were escorted out and the truck remains untouched and locked.

I sort of expected more damage to the cab and windshield, but it deffinently took the hit alot harder. The front end damage in the pics is self explanitary, It was his radiator fluid all over the road :D

I took pics at the back of each of his doors at the top, I am hoping that they will show the enlarged gap at the top of both doors. They were pushed outwards. The rear shot is to show how missaligned the bed is from the cab, one side sitts a couple inchs higher than the other. The yard guy said his frame is bent.

My adjuster called from the junk yard becouse he wanted to take the LCer to a body shop and have her torn down before he made the call. The Good Karma may have worked, Please keep rubing.

On another posotive side, The cruiser replaced Jude's Bronco, It became the back up vehicle. Well its only a f150 with a fiberglass cap. I think if we were still driving it, our crashed truck may have looked as bad as his crashed F150.

loquito- If you find something over the net in the midwest (Nebraska,Iowa,Mn) let me know I'll take a look at it for you. I know we have a 95 here in town for 9k. Not sure of miles or lockers but I can find out. Let me know.

The police didn't search his vehicle after the accident? I would have expected that especially when there is possible/obvious DUI/DWI, etc. I'm guessing the guy wanted to get some of his drugs out of the truck or something like that. Is the guy that hit you free to go and just has to showup in court at some time? I would bet money he will never show.

I'm glad you posted this, many times I have thought about how safe I am in a vehicle when people around me aren't paying attention or just doing stupid things. Keep the family safe, as much as I love Cruisers, you can always buy another, can't do that with a wife or kid. Hopefully your wife recovers quickly, I've heard a broken tailbone is very painful and does not heal quick. God bless...

pics of the LC, pretty please?
I want to show the difference btwn the 2 trucks to my wife!

I think loquito intended on sending pics of the 80 but had a little trouble, will get those up ASAP

About 3 or 4 years go my 91' was wrecked. My dad had to swerve off the road and ended up removing a fire hydrant from the side of the road and some barbed wire fence. Anyways, 8k in damages and the cruiser was rebuilt. My father walked away fine not a scratch car looked totalled but ended up being fixed. My advice as everyone's here, get another 80. They don't call it an Iron Pig for nothing.

Glad to hear that all your loved ones are alright.

Also, if you have to end up fighting, go to a chiropractor even if you don't really "need" it, in my wreck my lawyer advised me to see one to make sure my whiplash would be taken care of but also it would help plead my case for personal damages. The chiropractor I used was reccomended from my lawyer, they didn't get paid until the case was settled.

Just trying to help from my own expiriences. I totalled a volvo...t-boned a truck pulling a trailer doin 50mph, the f*cker didn't yield and thought he could "make it".

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised the vehicle wasn't searched as well, since there were injuries. I'd also guess there's something in there they want to get to ASAP. I hope the wrecking yard's security is excellent and it's not just a matter of the scum hopping the fence at night to retrieve his crack stash, ya know? OTOH, my REAL wish would be for very poor security but a pair of really vicious junkyard dogs that tear them up nicely.

Liquido- glad to hear all is well with you and your family. I hope your wife has a speedy recovery. And also - make sure you follow myk438's advice on the chiropractor visits early. Lot of the aches won't show up until later.

Families are the most precious cargo you can ever carry in your 80. Frankly, this is the reason why I bought one. (besides the fact that they are the most freaking sweet ride ever)

When I was looking for a new vehicle for my wife and I and future family, I wanted something that would protect us. This is the reason why we bought an 80.

This "got ARB" story. . .

is the reason why we bought an ARB to go along with it.

ginericfj80 - just filled up the LC last night - After I finished pumping the gas I noticed that this fill up was $52. I just happened to look up see my wife sitting inside the LC and I thought to myself, dang, what a small price to pay to keep us safe. And once again glad I bought an 80.

The lady who watches our son is going through a divorce. She might lose her Suburban out of the deal. Since she carts our little guy around I offered to loan her our 94. Not something I consider doing often, loaning out a Cruiser. But I want him to be safe. We've been looking at cars, the problem is that the cars we've considered due to space and construction get about as poor as mileage as the Cruiser. We'd have to get over 30mpg to make it worthwhile to add another vehicle to our fleet. Anything that gets that high of mpgs is too small to be safe. We have a ton of Dodge and Ford Diesel pickups running around (I bet there are 40 diesel pickups to every sports car in Idaho). Even a LC is small size wise to them. But I feel the constuction of the LC would probably allow my family to survive an impact. But this sort of gas crunch is really pushing forward the idea of a diesel conversion in our 91. It is getting to the point that something must be done the motor, so we may as well spend a little more and go with an engine that should net a few more mpgs. And I'm real interested in the biodiesel experiment.

Glad everyone is ok. Those Toyota seatbelts are hard on tailbones. Broke mine in a headon years ago in my 4Runner. No fun, but beats being dead.

Hang in there.

loquito -

How is your wife doing? Hope she is feeling better.

Any updates on the 80 and pictures from the accident? Still very curious to see how she held up vs. the F150.

Thanks-

Pictures of the 80??

Man - not nice - I'm SO HAPPY that you and your wife pulled through on this - could have been a LOT worse.

When I looked at the pics of the truck (the F150) I was actually surprised at how LITTLE damage there is. My assumption is that a crash at that kind of speed (55MPH) even into a movable object (your truck) would really demolish most vehicles (although I haven't seen a lot of MVA up close)

Look at this:

Ford F150 Crash Result 40MPH Offset

As you can see, really badly damaged. Is so much energy absorbed by a vehicle that is not moving that the damage is minimized to the extend in the pics posted in the link?

For me the sobering stuff is the 40MPH offset - ie the damage could look like that if two vehicles hit going say 30MPH (ie 30+30- some enegy absorbed the other vehicle) - that's why 2 lane, undivided 45-50MPH highways scare the crap out of me...I'd rather be doing 80 and going in the same direction as everyone on a 16 lane highway!

Cheers, Hugh

OK, everybody recovers first.
Then, PICS! pretty please...
:D

loquito -

I am glad to hear no serious injuries. Sounds like the "ball is in your court" regarding the other driver and all the fault he is in. You have alot of support here in this forum, let me know if I can look at a Landcruiser for you here in Phoenix.
I second e999 - pics whever your ready!

Take care.

I think Loquito has checked out of the building boys.

NO PICS. FOR YOU.... NEXT!

I have not been near a good computer for some days since I haven't been back to work steady. My computer at home is limited.
The family seems okay, Tuesday when he shows up in court for the no licence charge the trooper plans to charge and arrest him for three counts of assault.
There was drugs involved, they fell out of the car and two of his friends picked them up and tried to hide it. They both showed up at the hospital where the trooper intimidated the baggy and pipe out of the two girls.
My cruiser was declared Totaled and with the 4 months worth of reciepts I am in the hole for over a grand. But the famly is doing better!
I'll try to post pics through Raven tai, I took alot of both vehicles. I have tried twice but am doing something wrong.
S

Looking forward to it.
