My 91 cruiser's transfer case is jacked and i took it to a shop 4 weeks ago and they told me they could fix it. four weeks later they are asking me if i can get a transfer case and that they just cant fix the one thats in there. I have found one on cruiser parts .net for 600 but was wandering if i can find one cheaper here thanks if you can help.

Are you sure it's the transfer case? What's it doing?

I would check the classifieds section and parting out section here at MUD to see if you can find one. You may also want to try Slee Offroad or another MUD vendor before going the Cruiserparts.net route.

Just out of curiosity, why stay away form Cruiserparts.net?

Micheal,

You're going to wish you had posted here earlier. Those transfer cases never go bad. There is a cheap part that does and it sounds exactly like a transfer case.....

They tend to be on the pricey side. I've bought stuff from them in the past. If you need new go through C-Dan- a lot cheaper. Prices on the used parts varies quite a bit. If you're looking for a big ticket item pays to shop around and poss get something local, saves you shipping on a heavy item, ie- transfer case

Might want to check out idahodougs post and suggestion first.

There has been a lot of discussion about them in Chat, which is not appropriate or tolerated in a tech forum. There are MUD supporting vendors that give excellent service and fair prices as well as support the forum. I also agree about looking into idahodougs post and suggestion first.

Always had good dealings with cruiserparts.net. Bought most of my spare parts from them over the years. Granted I haven't made any recent purchases, but they have always been way cheaper than new.
