I had 35's installed today and this is how it went

Well I got cold feet. I can definitely deal with cutting some plastic and bashing some metal but I was afraid I would always have some rubbing somewhere. I called the tire shop and they somewhat reluctantly agreed to let me swap my 35's out for something else. I wanted to go with 35x11.50x20's because I think I could have made those work, but alas, the shop said they couldn't get them easily so I ended up going for the sure fit, 275/65r20's. They are only 1/2" less in diameter after all.

Tires that wide simply don’t work. That’s far more of a problem than height, but the tire is too tall as well unless you’re seriously committed to making it work. I’ve posted this several times, but here is my LX stock with 275/65/20 KO2s that are a 34x11 tire. No real rubbing to speak of once you ditch front mud flaps. Seriously save yourself a ton of trouble and ditch a 35x12.50 - I’m actually surprised the tire shop agreed to let you leave with that many issues!

Also these are both running 34x11" tires just one is an 18" wheel vs 20" wheel.

Still cheating the odometer about 8.3% (revs/mile).

Curious to see if you get any rubbing with 275/65R20's. I had rub on the UCA at full lock, mudflaps (front) and the front of the fender liner. Removed front mudflaps, 1/2" spacers and a little plastic removed on the fender liner and I am rub free now. I could see 35's rubbing everywhere, especially being that wide.

I read somewhere on here that the odometer is inaccurate to begin with and putting larger tires on actually increases the accuracy. On my 80 I have the yellow box solution to adjust the speedometer/odometer based on the tire size but I guess there is nothing like that for the 200 series.

Start throwing in 4.88's and the math gets even more complicated with the speedo. Stock, the readings are under actual speed and I think all manufacturers do that to varying degrees. I have 4.88's and BFG 34's which measure a hair above 32 in real life. My speedo is under by about 2% as measured by GPS.

I have the opposite problem. I was riding shotgun in my 200 to Moab last year while my wife was driving. I looked over and saw she was going about 85 mph according to the speedo, and I reminded her that actually meant closer to 90 mph and she just shrugged

Yesterday I noticed a little rubbing while braking on a slight downhill turning right. Seemed like it was the driver rear tire and the driver front tire.

Removing the side steps and that metal tab will give you more clearance to the rear of the front wheels at full lock.

The rear mudguards can also be trimmed flush to the bumper and molded back.

I want the biggest tire that will fit with some modifications. Cheating the odometer by about 8% reduces depreciation a bit especially if you start with low miles and/or you keep it a while. In my case, the stock 20s with OEM Dunslops are sitting in storage for when I sell. A little bit of rubbing does not concern me. I will be rolling the fenders and heat-gunning the wheel well liners and pushing them in for a bit more room.

LT285/75/17 is 33.9" and LT275/65/20 are 34.1" tires, and in supercarrera's tire actually have a higher load index than LT285/70/17 and LT285/75/17, with a load index of 126/123S (max load 3750 pounds). For comparison, the stock Dunslop Grandtrek P285/50/20 is rated to only 2469 lbs.
