Hello,

I bought a HZJ77 not too long ago and have started going through all the small issues that need to be fixed. So first on the list is I have no lighting on any of my switches and knobs on the dashThis is quite a nuisance driving at night trying to adjust the heater or fan. My instrument cluster itself is fine(for the most part) and my clock works. I dont imagine all the bulbs are gone and I dont see a dimmer anywhere. Any input would be highly appreciated.

I checked all the fuses and the ones there are good. But it raises more questions, as there are some missing. I am missing an ECD 15A fuse and a 7.5A Glow fuse. Any thoughts why this would be?

Pics for reference.

The dash backlights are all fed from the Tail (20A) fuse. Power goes through what’s called Short Pin No. 2, up behind the gauge cluster above the steering column. It’s possible there is a bad connection somewhere in the dash, otherwise the gauge cluster lights and clock would be out too. It’s pretty easy to unscrew the bezel around the heater controls and check the bulbs.

I’m not sure about the Glow fuse, I’ll have to check the manual. The ECD fuse is for the Prados that came with electronically controlled engines, so you won’t have that fuse.

A while ago I translated the wiring manual for 1990+ 70-series, it’s posted in the manuals sticky thread. You’ll have to bear with all the typos, it’s still a work in progress :)

Thanks a bunch. I am definitely checking out that manual.
