I have a HZJ75 that runs warm when driving at low speed, and is worse with the airconditioner running. But okay at higher speeds.

I've always found viscous hubs difficult to judge by just spinning it by hand. But I've heard that people can restore their performance by putting new silicone oil in them.

So I thought I might try it, however there doesn't seem to be any mention of it in the factory service manual.

Has anyone had success doing this? How do you know how much oil you are supposed to put in it?

there are posts on here about doing that. recommendations are that you get the fluid in a 12,000 or something strength. can't remember all the correct technical terms.
basically, if I remember correctly, you open the hub and drain what's in there and refill with the higher strength one. there is a way to adjust when the hub locks up using hot water. you'll have to search for the correct instructions. google and include ih8mud in the search engine.
