Hi. I was thinking of putting an auto locker in my HZJ73 but I can’t find a part number for the Torq Masters Aussie Locker. They make them for most cruisers, I just don’t see mine listed. Will another one fit or do I have to choose another brand? Thanks

Jeremy

I was thinking the same locker but it doesn’t say HZJ73 in the “fitment” section. You’re probably right. I’ll call them to confirm. Thanks CharlesHS!

Why wouldn't you use a 60 or other 7* series locker?

Do you know something I don’t? It doesn’t say HZJ73 in the fitment section. Would a 60 series or other 70 series fit? They still haven’t got back to me...

Im not sure if the diff ratio or semi/full floater makes a difference. Does your HZJ73 have the smaller 8" diff on the front.
Im pretty sure the 60/70 series rear diff centre is interchangeable 84 98.
CharleHS seems to be onto something

Sent an email to Aussie Locker thru the website and this is what I received from Cora Jokinen.

HI Charles,

The Aussie locker XD-21230 should be the correct locker for your application, but you can double check if you like. There's a build tag on your firewall that has codes for which axles were installed. Here's a link to decode your build tag:
Land Cruiser Vehicle Identification

Looks like I have a dilema in accordance with this most recent email from Aussie Locker..

HI Charles,

Are you looking for a front or rear locker? It looks like the 9.5" Ring gear started in 1998 and you have a 1993. We do not make an Aussie Locker for the 9.5", only the 8" (XD-20830) and the 8.875" Land Cruiser (XD-21230).

With the last email that I received from the Aussie Locker representative; it appears I need to wait until I can 100% confirm I do in fact have a 9.5" rear differential in my '93 PZJ75, which one of the Aussie Lockers will fit my LC and why they list the 9.5" being issued in 1998 (I believe that is a USA issue date).

The 7* series have had a 9.5" since 1984

Whats the code on the firewall, is it K082?

I’m in contact with Cora now. Hopefully she’ll give me a good answer. If she does, I’ll post it here for sure. She asked me what year my LC was, I told her and sent her a picture of my VIN

Oh yes I remember the the other thread about your odd gearbox diff combo. Its not going to be easy finding a locker for a diff no one can find much info about.
This is what I found, its a 4.555 ratio and its only used in the PZJ70/73/75. The part number for the diff carrier is 41110-60420 for an open diff. There were also LSD and locker diffs available.
The front diff (41110-60400) is also only used with the 1PZ

Thank you for the information.
Yeah.... only for the PZJs.

Cora replied with this...

HI Jeremy,

Are you looking for a front Aussie Locker or rear Aussie Locker?

The rear Aussie Locker part number is XD-21230, the front Aussie Locker part number is XD-20830.

Is she right?

Is that for a HZJ73 or a PZJ75?
