Hi all
I am new to the Hz, but being the new owner of a 2007 HzJ76, i will be learning fast. What I do miss is a rev counter and I have an option of putting in a aircraft style engin monitor which has a rev counter, ( and a real temp meter) with a number of pick up options.
what does the HZ use as a pick up and where is it located, alt, IP or flywheel.
Is there a chance that the pick up is already installed.
A pointer in the direction of where to start looking would be apriciated

Do you have a photo of the aircraft style gauge you mentioned?
Thanks

The older 1HZ had the pick up on the engine side of the IP, I don't think you could get it in or out without removing the IP.
But on 2006 1HZ ,the parts diagram is showing it plugged into the front LH side of the bell housing, but the same part as shown in this Pic.
However , I cant see an exact listing for the HZJ76 tach sensor just 78/79 and 105 series, although the parts diagrams show a dash with a tacho for the 76.

It must have something attached to the flywheel. You have your gearbox out ,so you should be able to see a mounting position.
I would get one of those pulse tacho that clamp to an injector line

Thank you all
Ross, the box is not out yet, It's all runing quite well, but there are a few indicators which point to a rebuild, peace of mind being a strong one.

I will probally use a guage from Products . It's a local company and i believe that they make the Mad man engine monitor as well. Madman Developments - Products.

I like the Velocity engine monitor as you get revs temp and battery and its all ready for egt when and if an HD engine ever comes along.
I may even hook up the egt anyway. This is their Velosity version but if space is limited then their infinity gauge will do as well.
