HVAC switch?

i recently acquired my regular 4Runner back to me...after six months of downtime.

anywho, i was fiddling with the hot/cold switch on the HVAC, and something snapped, and now it is stuck in the mostly cold/slightly warm area. i've had this problem with an '88 celica, but the heat controls were below the radio(i think), but my folks had something rigged so the passenger could only change the temp from hot-cold.

There's a wire inside of a plastic sleeve that opens and closes the valve on the heater hose in the engine comp. on the firewall... My guess is that is the problem... My dad's snapped while I was in there to change his heater core.... Options are, get another one and replace, or rig up something totally different... It's an odd part....
