Just more facts that everyone here already knows. I have driven every time out hunting this season (since this is the first season the 100 is basically all dialed in). Last weekend I had one of my GM hunting partners with me (who just bought a Sequoia for their DD)...and we did a few :princess: :princess: (for my 100 anyway ;) ) trails & snow/ice covered hills. I got a few "you're not gonna try to drive up that are you?" as I eased right through...!

Just had to share!

Oooo...by the way the All You Can Eat Crab Dinner at the Say When Casino was incredible (again)...3-crabs worth...gotta back off the groceries for a few days this week  .

I used to love doing that to my Father-in-law when we would be out wheeling in Johnson Valley. We'd approach one of the waterfalls and he would ask "Are you sure you're going to go up that?" and go right up it. Some of them even amazed me. Too much fun.

There is NO BETTER feeling.
I come pulling up in my rusted ass 62 all big and ugly, and some newer folks who have never ridden with me look at it and say, "So you are you riding with" I say..."myself", they say..."Youre taking THAT?" I say "YEUP"!
EVERY TIME, later in the day, I hear..."man, I didnt think that thing would make it." or, "Man, that thing does GREAT...I didnt think it could do that!"

Good job espressomon! I love those stories!

Ok but, how was the Huntin

The hunting has been good. Since there is virtually no snow in the mountains of Northern Nevada (and Sierra for that matter) we had, as you probably know, to think "outside the box" to find birds. Without the snow to consolidate the bird populations they can and are found anywhere. Last weekend I ran high and low without sign. Only after deciding to cover middle did my dog take me into several nice bunches. Another location I found them in the high country. And where I found them they had not moved/roamed in weeks!!! There just hasn't been any weather, to speak of, to make them move.

Weird January for upland!

I went over to gerlach, two weekends ago for my last hunt of the year, and did pretty good. I ended up with 5 birds one day and two the next, but had plenty of chances to get my limit. Like you said, this has been a really dry season in the upper most eastern part of Cal. The find of the weekend was a complete desert bighorn skull, full curl. It weighed in about 20 to 30 lbs. All in all in was good season.
