This is my first post, so please excuse me if not following format. I am looking for your guidance/help in replacing the vacuum line from the carburetor to the vacuum assembly in my 1965 FJ40 original engine and carb, line went missing at shop and plastic tube stuck in the end is not working out (engine misfires).

Situation: Have the 2 male nuts with the 45 degree edge and hole. Brass or copper 1/8 line easily slides through one, but not the other (seems to narrow). Can't find 3.5 MM tube.
1. Do I need to flare the ends outside of the bolt tips (1 MM or 3 MM?) so they will get pinched between the bolt and carburetor for vacuum assembly?
2. Has anyone found replacement hard lines?
3. or more likely, a nut (M?) with barb that has the right threading that you can put a flexible line on? Can't seem to find one/get a clear understanding on what the right threading is.

Thanks for everyones help!
Steve

Maybe download some free manuals

I don't vacuum nothing except the gauge.

The nut(s) on the distributor side are a two-piece affair. There is a larger nut that threads into the diaphragm (note here we are talking about a SIXTY YEAR OLD diaphragm) that the smaller nut fits into.

I highlight the age of the diaphragm because the odds are against it working, or you putting in the effort to find the part (I have several)

If you’re really set on hooking up the advancer right now (I will bet good money that it is not the source of your issue) than you should consider replacing the advancer with a NEW one.

I have a new advancer unit available for $125, and am up the road from you in Burbank. My contact information is in my avatar and signature line.

Mark, Thank you and appreciate you keeping these old parts around! I left you a vm and will get one.
Also, would look forward to any guidance you have on refitting a new vacuum line - either flaring hard line (to attach to a flexible line) or if there exists a male nut that has a hose nib (instead of a hole for the line) that I can connect a flexible line to b/t the carb and assembly. As you can see in the picture - my attempt flaring and 1/8 line does not go through the nut that goes into the vacuum assembly so having some questions on my approach.
