How to replace every fluid in your GX460

He certainly has good tech advice, but I don't agree with his Toyota-fluid-only evangelism. In fact, the only OEM Toyota fluid I run in my rig is the Pink SLLC coolant....everything else is aftermarket (and is significant less expensive despite being good-performing fluids). Additionally, there is no reason to replace the copper/crush washers on drain plugs. They can be re-used multiple times unless they are visibly damaged (all of mine have and I have zero leaks).

idk if i misheard but from what i saw the only toyota fluid he “recommended” was the engine oil because of his personal experience. He said the majority of that fluid is unnecessarily expensive and he personally goes with Amsoil. I go with amsoil for everything as well and have 0 issues.

The washers i tend to agree with him. I know you can reuse a few times without issue but with how cheap washers are there’s really no reason not to replace them. Most service like this is planned out so it would never be an emergency “i need to replace this fluid and I can’t because i don’t have a new crush washer“

I may use 3rd party 75W next time in Torsen center and have stuck with Toyota coolant and AT fluid. Everything else has been Amsoil

I even purchased the aircraft can key back in the day for the 75W oil can. Information was limited then

This would be a great video if I were 20 years younger! Now, I just let my independent mechanic do all the dirty stuff and I'll just mess with simple mods, like interior lights to LED's... some day.

speaking of which i’ve had those cause interference with my remote fairly often

His evangelism is more on other videos - particular with Toyota transmission fluid. I watched one of his videos last week as I'm getting ready to change the trans and rear diff fluid on our Highlander Hybrid and wanted to know where the drain plugs are. His video was great for showing those, but he was again catastrophizing over using anything other than Toyota WS fluid. I'll be using Valvoline MaxLife, which is what I use in my GX.

Regarding washers - I did replace all of them 2020 when I baselined the rig. Since then I've changed the diffs/TC yearly and have been in the trans a number of times as well. All the same washers, no leaks :). I'm not sure it's possible to damage any of the crush washers unless they were to be grossly over-torqued or tightened with something like a grain of sand between the washer/housing or washer/plug. I do clean the washers/plugs/housing with a rag prior to re-installing, and they look as good as new each time.

Diode Dynamics LED's don't do that. Made in America so cost quite a bit more than the cheap Chinese crapola LED's. But worth it, at least to me.
