Just updating this thread. I replaced one of the crappy 12v outlets with a dual USB charger. Fit right in with no modes. I just moved the plugs from the old socket to the new USB socket. Easy peasy.

My OCD is killing me... please tell me you've since lined those screw heads up so the slots all go the same direction.

hahaha, its actually about 3 hours of work but 20 hours of overthinking.

See, you even make the over-thinking part sound easy! I'd have over thunk the s*** outta that for way more than 20hrs, stretched out over weeks
