Wanting to get a couple of rough measurements... not a big rush... just thinking/planning.

1) length of a 3B from the front of the fan to the back of the motor?

2) distance from the center of the motor mounts to the back of the motor?

Thanks,

John.

if i remember i will get you the measurements off the 3b that i have sitting at the shop... but i am pretty sure that its not as long as a 2f... the fan shroud for a 2f in a 60 is smaller compared to the 3b fan shroud...

Thanks. I know it's shorter than a 2F... Just don't know how it compares to a 350.

I have a loose one in my shop too. I'll get some #'s tomorrow when I'm out there.

The engine mounts are different from 2f's tho eh?

Thanks.

2F mounts are long gone. Trying to figure out if I'd be starting from scratch, or if I could leave tranny and engine mounts alone after 350 conversion. Tranny sits +/- 4" forward from stock. Mostly daydreaming... If I were to do a diesel conversion, I'd have to try to keep it simple... Keep the 4 speed (swap input shaft), make some custom motor mounts, exhaust, wiring, etc. I still don't know if I could pull it off.

John, there's a pile of stuff around if you're looking to do the swap, bellhousings, trans/t-cases sitting in peoples' shops etc...:hillbilly: I'm sure you could find everything you needed pretty easily. Making motor mounts, x-member is pretty easy, i made some for my 3B in that 4runner thread. The thread where some said "it would never fit!!!". A bit of steel, a couple grinders with zip cuts and you're good to go.

I know the stuff is around. My hands/body aren't working that well these days... so I'm considering all of my options. I've already got a wing-mount on the back of the transfer case, and am considering how things would line up to the sbc motor mounts on the front of the frame. If I could just make a sbc to 3b mount it could be ideal.

I shelled out big to rebuild my trans&transfer, and it works real nice, so I'd rather keep it and its e-brake...:D Avoiding making new driveshafts would also be a plus. I'm also not worried about the weight being a little further forward, since I've got about 1150 kg over the rear axle.

Thanks Ryan.

30.5 might be a little tight... I've got 31" to the rad, so I'd have to modify something.
14.75 Dead center on the mounts welded to the frame :D

:hhmm: I think it could work.

Just have to factor in the extra length of the bel housing.
