i bought an 89 pu and need to replace front fenders but have not had time to realy check it out . how long should it take to replace 1 fender ? have new fenders just not alot of time

Not as easy as a 40, but both fenders shouldn't take more than an hour and a half.
There's about eight bolts per fender total, the run along the inside of the fender where the hood mates sets, a couple on the radiator core support.
There is some seam sealant up front, which is tricky to deal with if you don't have a putty knife of screwdriver.

I would spray the bolts to death with PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, or LPS (My personal favorite) about 30 minutes beforehand.

i like kroil best for fj40 rusted bolts , guess it will work on pick up too . thanks for your help i will spray bolts before i go to work and then take a long lunch to do fenders

on my 88 there is one bolt that is kind of hidden. probably the same on your 89.

at the rear upper corner of the fender. (by the windshiled) there is a bolt that you have to open the door to get to.

pretty easy to see if you are looking but i thought i would point it out before you go bending sheet metal on accident trying to wiggle something around.

other than that, pretty straight forward. i would definitely put the seam sealer back in there if you want it to last.

Good catch, I have one of those on my 83 as well.
Actually, my 65 Chevy had one there, too, come to think of it.
It's easy to get to, but easy to strip. If you have one of the CV joints for your ratches set, then you're in the clear.

The two at the bottom right in front of the door are the mostly likely candidates to strip. The reinforcement at the bottom of the fender holds gunk on the threads of the bolts, so they rust. Go slow, loosen a bit, spray & soak, tighten then loosen again, repeat.

The sealant where the fender meets the core support is a pain.

ok took a few hours , had to staighten radiator core support. thanks everybody
