Sorry for yelling....
Ok, now that is out of my system, anyone have any ideas?
I just bought a '91 4Runner and the alarm is driving me nuts (just like it did on my '92 Celica and my '93 Land Cruiser- both of those were easy items to remove, just unplug the unit at the steering column) The '91 alarm doesn't look that easy to pull.
Has anyone pulled the factory alarm? Is there an easy way other than pulling each wire and repairing the factory harness? I know I will lose the keyless entry, but I am ok with that.

I'm relatively sure that alarm is not factory. Never heard of them being installed on 2nd Gens, although I guess it's possible. I had a '92 that had every possible option (even leather) and it didn't have an alarm.

Some installs are done very well, you would need to look up the manufacture of the alarm though and contact them to see what wires it was spliced into. It could have been a dealer installed option, unique to the dealer it was purchased from too.

The controls look just like the factory alarm that was in my Cruiser, valet switch on the dash with the red LED and "Toyota" remote. I haven't found the actual alarm yet. I was actually trying to fix the heater blower motor and every time I would close the doors and reopen them the alarm would go off! (once again, exactly like the alarm in the Cruiser). I had to fix the heater, so I just unplugged the horn and let the lights flash. I plan on going back this week to track down the rest of the system.

I would bet this is a Toyota system, but it might be dealer installed.

Factory alarm module on all 2nd-Gen 4Runners is below the drivers seat. Unbolt the 4 14mm bolts holding the seat in, pull the seat out and simply unplug the unit. All the circuits will remain intact and functional, just minus the module controlling them.

Same goes for someone wanting a factory unit, you can install it in a vehicle. IIRC need the original vehicle's vin info so you can recode it to work as once it is completely unplugged, you need to retrain the remotes to get it all up to speed.

Here's the most current wiring info i have access to..

Update:
Finally had time to get back on the 4Runner.
It is a factory alarm, the box was finally found above the glove box mounted to the dash cross-brace.
It wasn't hard to get to, but it was well hidden.

Just thought i would put the location out there so the next person would have a place to start.
