How do you get paint to stick to metal parts? (1 Viewer)

I don't get it. I use rattle can Rustoleum all the time and it sticks and drys great.I rarely do more than a quick scuff and then clean with lacquer thinner

Do you use a primer? Which Rustoleum do you use?

I think I'm just overthinking or overcomplicating it.. Need to just paint it when it's hot out and can dry in a warm environment i guess.

I've had similar issues recently with several things I've painted.

And the one thing I see in your description that I've also been doing, since having this issue, is cleaning it off with acetone...
