its a 4runner 22re beleve the trans is bad it has a auto. need to figure out what trans it should have and what trans will swap with it. need to figure this out so i can tag it on the 15th
Date of Manufacture is 06/1986, so that is a 1986 model. Confirmation is the 10th digit, which is a "G", corresponds to 1986.
There is a VIN tag in the engine compartment on the firewall, right above the engine. It will have various other codes on the bottom. The number following TM is your transmission code. Here's an example showing a Transmission code G52:
The other codes are: C = Color, TR = Trim, A = Axle Ratio
ok so i got the a340 h transmission
033 kn41 g282a340 h
now i no wich trans i have what transfercase do i have axle ratio?
Im guessing i got the 4.33 gearing ?
is this trans transfercase worth my time in geting it rebuilt? Trans works good after it warms up for about 5 mins. acording to my friend who im geting it from. any ideas what might cause it to be sluggish in shifting other then needing a rebuild?
also it looks to me the transfercase on the transmission is able to be unbolted. Unlike what ive read saying its made in to the transmission case. might my trans have been swaped to a difrent auto with a removeable transfercase?
I parted out an '85 auto truck once, and the tranny/transfer was a one-piece unit. If yours is different, then it may not be the original unit. As for rebuilding, it will be very expensive. You could probably do a 5-speed swap for cheaper.
