Met a lady a little while back who owns a hj60, recently I found out it is on it's last legs with valve issues and frame rot. She is in the market for another and wanted me to get the opinion of this well educated, cruiser passionate group of individuals.

Does she live in Eastern or Western Canada? That truck is in Ontario, so would be a long drive to get it out here.

Is she open to RHD? If she's dead set on 60 series, maybe she should consider a low km no rust HJ61 import? Will last longer, and have more reasonable power output. Will cost more initially, but worth it in the end.
 
She lives here in town. Don't really know why she's looking so far away but it's not my cruiser hunt

There was that truck in Calgary for identical to this one for sale last Nov/Dec. Everyone here said 'too much $$',
so I'm sitting in Austin Tx while this goes on. Two weeks later, a kid from Austin shows up at the monthly meeting
with the truck. Paid brokers fees, inspection fees in excess of $2500 but figures is was worth it.
There are a lot of guys down there looking for the diesels, just getting by the 25 yr rule. Don't be surprised
if this goes south of the border pretty fast.
 
The reason I said 'talk them down $12k' is because the other cruiser franken60 linked was $10k, so I assumed that was the buyers budget (not cause I think that HJ61 is only worth $10k). Although I must admit, $22k is pretty high, especially as its an auto trans. If was low km manual trans with those cable lockers and mods, maybe...to the right buyer.
 
Yeah, I was amazed at the $22K too. I'm about an hour from that red BJ60 I Etobicoke, I've been in Ontario for 3 weeks.
I haven't even seen a land cruiser since I got here. Too bad, not enough time to go see it, I'm on the 777 bird home
tomorrow.

commute is about to double, I'd rather spend money on hookers and blow than on diesel.

Point is, a "daily driver" cruiser will become considerably less important than a "yard tractor/toy " cruiser.....and a 60 is just too big to be a useful tractor. :grinpimp:

First truck (red) is out to lunch. Its not even the right colour anymore.

I like the last one. Looks good from the pics and a great starting platform.
