Housing around Colorado Springs

I'll be heading to Colorado Springs pretty soon to start work on a construction project out at Fort Carson.

What areas would you all recommend staying away from in that area when looking for housing?

Not really next to Ft. Carson but there is an area in the SE part of town that has some pretty bad stuff happening too often. Don't know any apartment names but the general area is between S. Chelton to Drennan.

There are apartments all over. It depends if it is short term or if it is long term and you are bringing your family. A general rule is things get nicer the farthur you go North. There are nice places in the SW part of town. There are no REALLY bad places like some cities have.
