Hello everyone. I am new to the forum as you can tell by my count, but not new to forums. I found this forum when I was searching for heat exchanger solutions.

I am looking for a heat exchanger that I can submerge in a tank, or at least I think. A buddy of mine has a company where he sells portable water tanks (6 & 10 gal) that have the pump and hoses already connected. All you need to do is plug the cord into your 12v power. The tank is portable and perfect for my Bug Out Trailer I had fabricated. Problem is water is not heated, I know I know a survivalist needs a hot shower:cheers:. Anyway it is for my wife and kids I love cold showers.... So the problem is that the trailer and the Jeep are not always together and I would like to keep the portable tank with the trailer. Any help or pointing in the right direction as I have no idea about these units and what is possible.

Buy an Ecotemp LC5 and forget about it. Mine is about 6 years old and used everyday.

I have 3 20# tanks but I want the flexibility for 1lb if needed because the water system is fully portable. You are most vulnerable when showering I want to be able to hide the shower if trying to stay low, and I dont want to haul a 20# with me. But of course you are right a one pound might do only 3 showers or something.

Just get the adapter from Coleman or someone.

 good point did not think of that I even have one now I have to find it.

BTW my buddy tank system is here if yall want to take a look. not trying to sell just if it interests you you can look it up on goog.

Do you live in a city? If so that Jeep will look great sitting on the freeway during your bugout. Check out the latest images from Atlanta during the ice storm to get an idea of what will happen. The mobs will revel in your visible gas, water and supplies.

The above scenerio is always my concern with a "bugout" situation in a big city. I'm sure you've thought of this, what's your workaround?

The Ecotemp L5 seems like a pretty good remote shower system. Does the water have to be pressurized or gravity fed?

I am using a Sureflo water pump on mine.

This Ecotemp L5 seems pretty awesome but harder to use in a remote area. Were do you mount and power the pump? Is the Ecotemp heavy and difficult to hang in remote spots? Dwikto, what is the name of your buddies water tank/pump combo?

Would a Zodi Hotman extreme be an easier solution for remote camping with no pressurized water? Do they work well?

Alot of them just run 12 volt pumps which plug into your cigarette lighter or battery clamps like the zodi.

I hang the heater off my hilift on the front bumper, the pump attaches to 1 of my water jugs and plugs into a plug wired into the house batt. fuse panel. Takes about 5 min. to set up the entire bathroom setup.

Yeah your question is very valid about big cities. I live in southern Ca, so while not downtown LA is is still heavily populated. I do have a workaround, which sort of circles back to the trailer. I can get to the open desert without hitting a main artery mainly through off highway trails. It is 4x farther, but like you said sitting in traffic running out of gas keeping the ac on is no solution. With regards to the ecotemp, I already have a pump that runs from the Aux battery that I cal siphon any liquid with. If I hook it up to the l5 and have it pull from a water source that will be adequate pressure. Although with my buddy's tanks the pump is already there and the output marries up perfectly, so ill probably do that.

Hey, that 6 gallon bag is pretty sweet, I'm going to post it.

It seems like a clean all in one solution, multi-use as well. Great for day trips when you don't need a heater and then pair it with the Ecotemp for camping.

I live in LA, Westside so the whole "bugout" thing won't really work for me too well. Miles and miles of bad neighborhoods between me and bugoutville. If there's a bad earthquake, I'll have to hunker down. That is if I have anything to hunker down in.
