I’ve seen a few of these threads but all from over 10 years ago (so if I missed a more recent one, please point me in the right direction). Butttt,

My hood latch will not release. The hood raises slightly to get to the hand release, but the initial latch release won’t release. The pull handle inside seems to have a bit of tension. Some people on mud said they were able to get the latch off with a 6in wobble and remove the three bolts.

Has anyone here had this problem? If you undue the bolts, will the whole latch mechanism just raise with the hood?

Thanks in advance!

if someone pulls the inside handle can someone outside pull the hood up and get it open?
liberal use of spray lube?

We've tried that, granted without the liberal use of spray lube. I do have some WD40 so I may try that. Otherwise, I have a buddy coming over Tuesday and we might be trying to crank out those bolts. Fingers crossed the WD40 and brute strength works.

If using the pull handle in the cab does not release the ratchet in the bonnet lock (which you hear as a thud when the pawl is released), use a hook tool through the grill to snag the cable and pull the cable to get more tension on it.

I was actually able to fix it last night. Used a 10mm with wobble and released the whole latching mechanism. Then was able to adjust the tension on the cable and it pops now with no issues. That wobble bit is the key!
